California Son and Grandchildren and More

Two weeks came and went way to fast for my son and his family visiting. We should have done so much more together and taken way MORE pictures but didn't so oh welllllllllll.......

My son got to experience farm llife even if only a littlebit because of the cold winter weather.

The five older grandchildren got a ride.  No babies. The trampoline in the background is barely holding together after two windstorms that sent it sailing around the yard.  The nearby town has many offers for windfarm companies wanting to put some on farms southeast of the town.

No, my grown son wasn't naughty.  He was having a game of hide and seek outside with the kids and it was his turn to count.

Baby E outside in the stroller one time only since it was COLDDDD....brrrr.... Isn't she so sweet?  She has the bluest eyes and the happiest smile almost always.

Inside story time to warm up with granddaughter A and C, and grandson B with my son B.

Bread baking day comes around so oftern I decided to do double the amount to try to keep and freeze it. Two flax wheat loaves, two wheat loaves, and one wheat raisin bread from fresh ground grains and some oatmeal raisin cookies from the last baking day.

Ever wonder what a bucket of scraps looks like for the compost pile. I thought you would like to know.  Yummy, yummy for the garden in spring.

Blessings..

Nothing To Do in Winter

Hello again!  I haven't blogged lately because my son and family have been visiting from California. We had a late Christmas on Jan 1 having delayed it till my son in law could be home on his days off.  We did have Christmas dinner on Dec. 26 once my son and family had arrived but then finished Christmas off with the present opening on Jan 1. So we have been busy. although when I try to think what we all did I can't think of anything but play, cook, bake, relax, eat, play some more, ride the tractor when it was warm enough, look at the chickens, jump on the trampoline or what's left of it, talk etc etc.....

Around here in central Illinois nothing is open after Christmas. Even the reindeer place closes down. But we did find someplace to go with an indoor playland so the adults and kids could get out for awhile.

MCDONALD'S!!!!!!!!!!  Not the healthiest of foods but indoors with a playland and open.

My son and granddaughter A with granddaughter Princess C lookin on.

Grandson D

Granddaughters L and E who either were being nursed, or held and not on a slide. Baby L can sit up well now and baby E raises herself up high on her little tummy.

Family and More Wacky Wild Weather

The last couple days have been a whilrwind of family coming to visit and wild weather.

Very early Friday morning brought another ice storm more north of us into the'Chicago area. We were still frozen anyway so it wasn't like it was different here anyway.

But on Friday I had to drive down our solid ice driveway, down the ice coated road, through bumpy ice encrusted roads throught the local town which still has numbers of downed branches from the last ice storm and onto the freeway which was slow going because of ice patches also, past numerous cars in ditches including tractor trailers, around police road blocks that did not seem to be for any valid reason until I finally made it to my mom's house where my son and family were waiting to be picked up. They had flown in from California the previous night.  I stopped briefly to pick up some whole grain wheat at the health store in the city and then after they all got ready we took off back down to the farmhouse.

Forgetting to take water bottles with we had to make a stop for something to quench my son's thirst on the way. We also had to stop once for a baby nursing session. I thought it would be easier driving since the temps were already rising and all the ice would perhaps have melted. Well it had mostly melted but the rising temps and all that moisture created a very dense fog that got worse as we went and as it got darker out.  Thank you Lord I made it safely up north and we all made it safely back down to the farm.

We had a great get together and reunion with my son, daughter in law or dil as I call her here, and my two sweet grand girl babies 3 years and almost 5 months now. My daughter in the meantime while I was gone had to manage five children and cook a Polish Christmas dinner for us and try to clean the house a little too. The dinner was delicious, sorry no pics since we were so busy eating we didn't think to click the camera at the spread on the table.

The temperature continued to rise throughout the night and practically all of the ice and leftover snow melted. There were just a few patches in the fields left. Today we had such warm temps and all snow melted and puddles formed in the fields, large puddles. The winds were so strong that the trampoline was blown over bending two poles and then reblown over across the side yard. Another few branches came down and yes, the electicity went out for a couple hours. But we had the handy dandy generator bought from the last power outage to quickly hook up and use. Looks like that purchase was worthwhile. So to continue we had wind advisories, tornado watches, thunderstorm watches, and severe thunderstrom warnings besides the usual flood watches although we do not have any creeks or rivers here to watch.  it is so nice to have a weather radio to keep us updated. I highly recommend one. We had one flash of very bright lightening followed by a very loud thunderclap but only that one. The rained poured down on us trapping a few family members in the barn during a tour of the property.

The all of a sudden the fierce wind that had been blowing all night and all day stopped. It was strangely quiet and so quiet I was waiting for a tornado warning to be belted out by the weather radio.  But no it was just a change or end to the weather pattern. Now I hear the wind starting to pick up and we are supposed to have more winds with a coldfront moving in. So our wonderful warm weather, spring like storms and rain are ending for now and we await their return later on in the season.

And I must add it is so good to see my son and family after not seeing them for about four months. My daughter's family haven't seen them since last Christmas so we are indeed having a blast out here on the farm for more than one reason. Pics to come.

Blessings.

The Best Laid Plans

Plans can be made but when the weather interferes out here in the country plans must be changed.

My daughter and her hubby went to the big town yesterday because they had to return their cell phones for different ones. It was almost the last day to do this. They had to do some Wally World shopping also. Yesterday's weather was ice balls/sleet. The wind blew it directly at our kitchen bay window and coated it completely. Then the side windows started getting covered. We could not see the long winding road anymore.

Here is a closeup of the window.  It was amazingly beautiful. This winter has just started and it is a wild one. At least we did not lose our electricity yesterday. My son in law's dad lost theirs for three days.

I enjoy living here with my daughter and family immensely. But it is also nice when they go away for the day and I am left with the whole house to myself with blissful peace and quiet. So today they left to go to her hubby's sister's house for a Christmas dinner.  I saw them leave and then about forty minutes later they came slowly pulling back into the driveway. It seems the country roads are iced over and they spent much time at one intersection just sliding around in their van. And when I say ice I mean a thick coating of ice not slush. Our whole yeard is a skating rink. Even the birds are getting blown by windgusts and skidding a short ways.  Since another cold front is moving in this afternoon and nothing is melting they decided they would have to come back to the house. If it snows north of here travel will be difficult if not impossible later tonight when they travel homeward. Plus my son in law must go back to the city tonight for work tomorrow. So he would have had to drive the family back here from Indiana and then go back up north in Illinois tonight. We all can't wait for his transfer at the beginning of April so he does not have to drive so much.

Here is a pic of the glistening yard after the ice storm when the sun came out. The pic does not do the sparkling scenery justice. It was like a frozen crystal kingdom. The ground is still just as icy but the trees and bushes lost all of their ice coating.

Well, the wind is blowing heartily once again and on that note I shall close for now.

Blessings and a very blessed Merry Christmas to you all. Remember Jesus on this day and all that He came to do for you.

Great Blog in Tennessee

I have been meaning to write about a blogger who lives in Tennessee. She is a wonderful Christian, mom, farmer, and blogger. She also has a website in which she sells homemade soaps and teas. I have tried her soaps and especially love the shampoo bars. Her mixed herbal teas are great first thing in the morning or late at night.

Her blog is located at TNfarmgirl.  Just click the link for all kinds of interesting info from politics occasionally to farm advice to Christian verses and advice. She also has some sons she is immensely proud of who are helpful to her and very talented and responsible.

Her website is SWEET HOLLOW FARM.  Sherri has a special running until the end of December on her herbal course. So if you are interested in learning about herbs and how to make some salves, teas or tinctures head on over there and buy it now. I can't wait to start my concoctions as soon as it arrives.  This special will not be repeated again so get it soon.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

Are you cold?  I am. Central Illinois was hit with below zero digits with windchills as much as 24 below zero on Sunday. It is better today, not as windy but still cold.  Sunday we could not keep the kitchen warm at all. That ol' wind sure howls with gusto around here. In fact there is a windfarm within  about a thirty minute drive from here. Some friends of ours went on a fieldtrip there in the past and I would like to go too when it is warmer out. A windfarm has huge windmills which look way diffferent than the old farm ones you might have seen.  They are much larger and look like airplane propellers. They cost in the millions to erect but generate a lot of electricity. Another windfarm is a possiblility in the area also, at least the negotiations were underway.I hope it is not to close as they also geneerate a lot of noise!

It makes me wonder if we could put up a smaller version and get off the grid a little. Hmmm something to think about I guess.

Blessings.

The Dog

I am going to post this quickly just in case Hughes Net fails us later. Despite the 2 below zero reading today with the wind blowing making it more like 20 below zero and ice chunks still clinging to everything except those that are falling off Hughes Net is still working.  Do you get tired of hearing my complaints about Hughes Net?  Doo I say Hughes Net to often?  I guess I do.

I came down to the kitchen today to find the thermometer read 56 degrees. And besides that I feel a slight breeze so factor in a windchill maybe making it around 50 degrees. Not KIDDING!!

So here's a post I had previously written but it got chucked to the back when the ice storm hit. Not much but it is so COLDDDDDDDDDD.....

Do you want to know what the dog does when we are gone for the day?

Do you want to know what the dog does when we are in the kitchen and she thinks we won't find out?

Do you want to know what the dog does even when we walk in the room and she closes her eyes or looks another way like we can't see her then?

Let's give this said dog a name.

 BUTTERCUP GET OFF THAT CHAIR!!!!!

Blessings.

Ice, Ice, and Then Some More Ice or the Day the LIghts Went Out

Well, I cannot blame HughesNet for not posting yesterday. We had the biggest baddest ice storm. After reading about the ice storm that hit other parts of the country a week or so ago I did not think it would happen again anywhere else so soon. We heard the weather reports and we waited. But until it hits you have no idea what it will bring. And what it brought was a very chilly (ha) reckoning of what life in the country is REALLY all about - survival.

It's about trees being ruined.  Our weeping willow is sobbing and broken now.

Our American flag wtill waves through it all behind ice encrusted bushes.

Some birds did venture out looking for food but not many. This is one of the woodpeckers that visit us. Even the birdfeeder was coated with a layer of ice.

My son in law had to call and see if anyone had any generators left which would mean of course leaving the house on ice slick roads to get one. There was one left in our local town that could at least handle the furnace, freezer, and frig with a little movie and tv added to it all to make life bearable. Everything had to be alternated except for the furnace.  Did you know that a generator that handles the whole house is a couple  thousand dollars?  Not good for a strained budget on a farm so he bought one that was just enough to survive till the electric company gets the juice back on. Their first estimate was one to two days and then expanded to three to four days which had us worried. Boy were we worried especially with a coldfront coming our way in a day with -20 below windchills.

The frog on the front porch was worried too.

These are the cords that kept life going yesterday.  They were snaking along all over the first floor.

Granted it all was very beautiful and awesome, and undescribable. The rippling sounds of cracking and dripping went along with this all as it tried to thaw out but didn't.

Hard to believe that everything was coated completely.

Things I don't take for granted now - hot shower, electric sewing machine, computer use, LIGHTS, crockpot cooking, running water, and flushing sounds in the bathroom and I am sure many other things now.  Praise God it only lasted one memorable day. But winter is not over yet. And we certainly need to be more prepared for next winter. What if we did lose electricity for good? How would we live? It would require a big life change that is for sure. We are not properly prepared.

Blessings.

Finished Projects and a Chicken

I wrote this yesterday but then Hughes Net did not cooperate and I could not finish it.

I have been trying to sew more lately especially on the I Spy quilt that I have been working on for awhile now. A lot of it I was doing by hand while I watched television with my daughter and family and some of it out in Cally while visiting my son's family forthe birth of baby number two. I like working by hand but I have speeded up the process doing the rows by machine. Unfortunately I am worried that the rows will not be as straight as if I did them by hand. Whether I pin the seams carefully or not the material still shifts under the needle. We shall see when it is done what has happened. Yup, it is not done yet so no pics.

I made a sunbonnet for next summer's sun for granddaughter Princess C. I plan to make more for the girl grandies in the family.

Peek a booooooo!

Front view.

I also worked on a chicken apron for the chicken kitchen decorating scheme. I will have to give you a tour of that sometime. Grandson D was kind enough to model this for my blog. Thanks D.  He is the chicken boy who goes out to the coop each morning rain or shine, cold or warm to get the eggs.

The other day I finally was able to pick up a chicken. It has been a challenge for me between the chickens and myself to see if I can pick one up. Why would I want to? Well, just because. If there is a chicken on the ground something inside you says pick this bird up. Right,  well maybe not for you but for me.

What? Too small of a picture you say. That could be a large feathery rock I am carrying. Oh come on.  OK. Here is a larger one with me having the goofiest grin on my face. The family was all gathering one by one by the kitchen bay window calling all the grandies to come look at Abiga with the chicken. Then they had to get the camera to take pictures.  And boy was it cold out there! Since then it has snowed and has gotten colder. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......

OK stop laughing so hard. On that embarrassing picture I will close for now.

Blessings.

Christmas Tree

Woo hoo, HughesNet is working today, at least so far it is so I can post to my blog again.

My daughter and her crew looked over their "vast" acreage and found a tree to chop down. Money savings - at least $25 or more.

At first they wanted to chop this one down. It blocks the view from the kitchen bay window. Right now I am thinking maybe it also blocks some of the cold WIND but that's another story.

But with the size of it, having to cut it in the middle probably and then more work to chop the res of it down, and the cold cold weather they opted for a smaller one.  Here it was in fir tree row. We have a lot of bushes and firs for windbreaks here.

My son in law (I have to stop calling him my sil, he doesn't like that.) was afraid that it was too small as they have a habit of getting largeeeeeeee trees. The dog always has to be with anybody outside.  Not that she was helping or anything. Or maybe she was blocking the wind, uh, once again that's another story.

They all had to help carry it to the house.

All that snow has melted but we did get a dusting last night. And see that baskeball hoop behind them. The WIND  blew it over the other day.(Once again tha's another story.)  It likes to blow over when ever we park a car near it. Both times it missed the cars and went in different directions.

It's not that small. It almost comes to the top of the window frames. They have great woodwork in this ol' house.

Ah, fiinally the star is up.

Christmas Tree 2008 with the grandkids minus little baby L.

Blessings.

Information that you may find useful!

Most all of you are aware of the state of our country's economy. Many bloggers write about what they are planning to do if another great depression comes. In fact they have already put many of their plans into action.  Here is a site that I get newsletters from that explains in simple terms part of what is going on today.

Summit Ministries

Amy's Humble Musings has had a series of blog articles explaining her husband and her views about family and personal finances.  She has a lot of good advice for you and also an archive of links that you might find useful. Isometimes have to click on her link several times to get it to come thru. Whether it is my internet connection or my computer I still persevere to read her blog.

Currently I am reading or I should say listening to a book on tape titled, "The Worst Hard Time" by Timothy Egan which is mainly about the dust bowl but also talks in depth about the Depression years and the stock market crash. It is amazing how our country came through this. This book really gives you the experience through actual people who lived through it.

And in the news here in Illinois is that our governor Rod Blagojevich has been arrested for many things including "pay-to-play" schemes in Illinois politics. He has been under investigation for several years and some news articles call this a "political corruption crime spree."  The latest thing good ol' Rod did was try to sell the vacated Senate seat left by president elect Obama. He also was reported saying that if he was close to getting impeached as governor he would take the Senate seat himself so he would have a job I suppose.  What makes this worse for us Illinoisans is that our previous governor George Ryan was also convicted and sentenced to prison on federal corruption charges also. And it is just somewhat frightening that our next President of the U.S. is from Chicago, Illinois a city and state known for political favors, dishonesty, and corruption.

I don't understand why senators and representatives, governors and presidents  etc. do not have to have degrees or experience in the constitution and laws. All it seems is you have to know someone who can get you in a lucrative job that has many kickbacks, donations, or gifts that you can easily slip through the loopholes. I am having a hard time expressing what I mean. But don't you think a person who works for the people and the country should want to because they love the country and love helping people not just being in it for a lifetime position of wealth. I do believe we need major revival in people's hearts and conviction by the Holy Spirit. Ok I am off of my soapbox.

Blessings.

Baking Day

I love chocolate chip cookies and I love oatmeal cookies and I love peanut butter cookies (homemade, a big yuck to most store bought cookies) so when I combine the three I get a cookie I love love love so much.

I made chocolate chip peanut butter oatmeal cookies with lots of chips of course. They turned out great. I even added a bit of fresh ground white whole wheat flour to this batch and it still was great.

I had also made whole wheat and whole wheat cinnamon swirl raisin bread. The swirl raisin bread always falls apart in the toaster if not by cutting it but it still tastes delicious.  I usually make the grandma's bread recipe from Suzanne McMinn. She also has a version with whole wheat added to it and separate recipes for raisin and cinnamon swirl breads. I usually add more fresh ground whole wheat flour. all of Suzanne's recipes are great.

My daughter also made Italian bread for our meal to dip in spices yesterday and just followed the recipe on the bag of flour.

Here is the recipe for the cookies.

Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup sugar

1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/2 cup peanut butter

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup flour of your choice

1/2 cup oatmeal

1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1 (12 ounce) bag chocolate chips semi- sweet or other kinds

1. Preheat oven.

2. Cream butter and sugars together. Add peanut butter, egg, and vanilla and mix well.

3. In another bowl mix dry ingredients together and add to butter mixture.

4. Add chips and mix well.

5. Drop spoonfuls onto pans.

6. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

7. Cool for 5 minutes if you can.

Yummy fresh out of the oven if you don't burn yourself on the chocolate.

Blessings.

Tomato Plants

What!!!!!  Tomato plants in December.  Yes, that's true.  I read somewhere (and who knows where since I travel the internet all over the place each day) that you can start a cutting from a tomato plant. Why would anyone want to do that when you can buy seeds of alll kinds and plants of all kinds just at the right time for planting I don't know. But I decided to try it.  I still had been trying to coax tomatoes off of our two potted plants well into the fall by even putting them in and out of the garage. But with not enough sun, warm weather, and an aching back I gave up on that.

But we still have a few of those yellow tomatoes ripening on the cold cold windowsill. I want to save some seeds from this one too.  Notice the little ladybug on the green one in the back right area. We still have a few of these in the house. I can';t wait to see if they all take flight out of the molding in the warm days of spring.

So yesterday the two cuttings look fine. Both of them had a little root growing. I thought about moving them though since that north facing windowsill is so cold. Well, any windowsill here is now COLD! But today this is what I saw and I have no idea.......

what happened to the cutting on the right.  It was just completely bent and broke and black there in the middle.  (And yes, the jar of Carmex is still sitting there on the sill even after my daughter read one of my prrevious posts of what is on your kitchen window sill.)

The other plant also has some darkening on it so I wonder if it will die too.  Maybe it froze to death.  The plant also has some dark spots on leaves in some places so it may not be worth planting and nursing it along anyway.

Blessings from the artic in central Illinois.

Too Cold Out!

Cold weather, and I mean really cold weather has arrived. It stayed about 22 degrees during the day after being about 5 degrees last night. After we had the snowfall the chickens have not been adventuresome enough to come out of the coop.  Some of the snow melted when it warmed a little and some drifted so there is grass showing in some spots but they do not want to come out. The heater under their water has been kicking in to  keep the water from freezing.

The first days after the snow they just would wander inside the coop or near the door.  Then they would go back to the left and huddle together inside to keep warm. As the weather got colder each day they stayed huddled more and more.

We tried to lure them out with scratch outsde the coop but they only came so far before going back in again.  The rooster of course stays back and lets the hens come first. Of course he is watching all the time for predators so he can run and hide after he warns the hens. D the chicken boy did say they have come out of the coop sometime today to the side of the shed where there is no snow.

I made some lentil sprouts the other day to see if they would eat them to get some fresh foods. It was a suggestion on the yahoo chicken group we read to sprout different grains or beans to take the place of  the covered grass and weeds they would normally peck at.  D said they liked them.

Not much else going on around here. Exercising to dvds lately, reading an excerpt from an advent book each day with the kiddies, also reading a little in the original unabridged version of Robinson Crusoe, sewing/quilting, reading and staying warm.

Blessings.

Country Christmas Parade

I went into town the other day to return library books, pick up libary books, and to fill our water jugs at IGA. I forgot what day it was so when I got to town several streets were blocked. I could not even get near the libary and IGA's parking lot was full. Oh yes, it was the day for the town's Christmas parade.  So instead of trying to lug books or water bottles a long way I just decided to go home. D my grandson had not wanted to come with on this trip(usually he does but this time he wanted to get back to play a video game) so I did not even suggest staying to watch it especially without the other littles.

When I got back to the house only Princess C wanted to go with me. N is going through separation anxiety from parents AGAIN and didn't want to go and then D decided not to go if N did not go. Oh well.   We made it in time to see most of the parade by parking near the end of the route which was really only about three or four blocks down.  We had a lot of emergency vehicles from local towns, some motorcycles, boy scouts, girl scouts, car dealer cars, antique cars and various floats.

Bus with Sesame Street decorations. Behind them is a group from one of the churches with a neighbor lady with them.

Here they are - angel, shepherds, two dogs that I suppose represent other animals, and Mary  on a mule or horse and Joseph at the end.The neighbor lady has a lot of different animals on her farm.

A Shriner's clown going the opposite way in front of the construction area for the new and improved town clinic.

The electric company float of a tree made out of the tops of electric poles.

And of course the end with ol' Saint Nicholas.

This is the town tree place right in the center of our main street smack dab in the middle of the road.  Later I heard my daughter and family came upon it one night not knowing the town had put it there. They were surprised and might have hit it if not paying attention. You can also see it in some of the other parade pics.

Our new clock tower is in the background to the left.

We also had a bag lady passing out shopping bags with coupons for this coming weekends open house in town at the few stores we have.  We really needed this bag since all the people on the floats threw candy at us. We were surprised by it but liked it. Princess C took awhile to understand she had to run and pick it up off the ground before anyone else got it. Finally they were throwing some just for us.

It might be fun to make our own float for next year. We have a year to plan it anyway, ha. Blessings.

First REAL snowfall on the Farm

Today we actually had 4-5 inches of snow so this day should really be counted as the first real snowfall at the farmhouse. It was a very wet sticking snow at first and then later as the temperature rose it melted a little.

Late fall on the farm.

Looking to the south.

Leftover cornstalks can be seen in the snow.

And guess what we made today?

We actually made two but the first one started falling apart and then was attacked brutally by three children.

This tree may become a shortened version of our Christmas tree. Until then it is a beautiful site out the kitchen window although it does block the view somewhat.

Blessings.

Thanksgiving is Changing in the USA

We all know Christmas in many school systems has been changed to just a winter holiday time if not completely ignored. Well, Thanksgiving has slowly been forgotten also I think with the occurance of Halloween decorations, candy and spooky store advertisements in October.  Right after the Halloween decor and candy are removed Christmas decor comes out. And isn't it funny that celebrating Christmas is ok at the stores but not in schools or government buildings. Although I have heard that store personel in some places have been warned to say Happy Holidays and not Merry Christmas. I wonder when the Nativity scenes will be outlawed on the shelves to sell; hmm maybe only when the store can't make a profit out of selling them. Ok, back to Thanksgiving. HERE is an article by Patrice Lewis about what is going on now with Thanksgiving in many places. People are choosing to forget why the Pilgrims came here in the first place since we can't acknowlege God anymore in public places. Why, oh my, that would be shoving God down people's throats who wish not to hear about Him, the Great I AM. Uh, I will get off my soapbox now.

My daughter who homeschools her children did a unit this year for Thanksgiving that focused on why it was made a holiday which included the reasons for it and which presidents made proclamations about it. She wanted to make sure her children knew what it was all about and its basis in our country.

Thank you Lord that we still do have religious freedom in this country, at least for now. Thank you that we can  worship you openly without getting arrested, most of the time.

Thank you for the blessings you have given my family and I mean that wholeheatedly.  Thank you God!

Blessings.

Birds

This little guy has been a regular on one of our walnut trees near the driveway.

And these big girls have been regulars outside our kitchen window looking for treats like yogurt  and oats, or stale bread and cookies; and now they are right at our back door.

Let me in, let me in said the big bad chickens or we'll peck you house down!!

Blessings.   Oh and please do not wipe your feet before you come in to visit us as your shoes, you know,  will have some chicken deposits on them.

Goat Farm Visit

Yeaaaaaaa  Field Trip yesterday to a goat farm.

I found a Dwarf Nigerian goat raiser on the internet and contacted her to see if we could visit her operations and see how she did everything. Deborah was very gracious to us as she gave us a tour. If you are in central Illinois you might want to check out Antiquity Oaks Nigerians for your goats.  Besides Nigerians she raises a couple Nubian goats, heritage chickens, geese, turkeys, sheep, and ducks. She also has guard llamas, an Anatolian guard dog, some horses she is fostering, an English shepherd dog for the sheep, and a couple rabbits which we did not get a chance to ask about. She has had pigs also in the past.

These are the bucks housed separately.  Deborah fed them and they were just gobbling it down jumping all over each other. Bucks are stinky so they are not housed with the does. Plus if you housed them together all the time they would just breed, breed and breed constantly.

A beautiful doe.

More does and a Nubian wether with grandson N.

More of them. They were all different sizes and colors and personalities. No pics of the littlest ones though.

Watch geese parading for us.

We got lots of ideas for a milking area,  fencing,  protection, and housing. We sampled some of Deborah's goat's milk and cheese. The milk was very white and creamy with no goatee taste at all, Yummy!

Blessings.
