You would think we came out to the country to enjoy the peace and quiet and not be bothered with people and social obligations. You would think that people would just keep to themselves out here since everyone lives farther away then on the same block. But no everywhere we go almost everyone is friendly and polite. If one person doesn't acknowledge you then you can be sure the next person will be friendly for sure. Our neighbors down the road constantly stop by to bring us corn or their peaches and stop awhile to talk and just be plain neighborly. In the city we all ignored each other politely or maybe it was just our particular neighborhood for those of you who have had a better experience. Or maybe these country people or the country just brings people out of their shells. Now a friend of our neighbor called us this am after this neighbor also called us. A get-together is planned plus we can buy produce from the friends garden as this is what they do. The church and their smiling faces and hand shaking every five feet is kind of nice too. My d and sil also have a wonderful couple for friends that love to come out here to enjoy the country. They were such a big help with the packing and unpacking too. Then my uncle and his friend stopped by to deliver a gift my uncle and mom obtained on a recent trip. ( I will tell you about this on tomorrows blog entry.) My uncle was on his way to his camper about an hour south of here and we are just a short clip off the highway. It was his first view of the farm and actually he never visits. Well my d and sil don't invite him either but that's neither here nor there. He only came to their other house to bring a bed one time. So that was two phone calls and a visit in one day followed by our neighbor's visit yesterday. Last night we also went into town for water and a friendly visit to the Dairy Queen just to be neighborly to the townsfolk. We want to do our part here in the friendliness area. We have had visits by the water softener man just checking to see if we need his service, the school bus driver introducing himself, and also the mailman. Blessings and of course a wave and a friendly hey to you too. |
