Dear Reader

  We were quite upset yesterday because late Thursday night my Mother sent my Sister into my room to wake me up to tell me my Nubian Buck was lying on his side screaming. My Father had went out earlier to see if something was at the animals and found Manny in this state. We knew it was bloat.

  We called many vets to see if one would come out and finally we got ahold of a large animal vet (one who is on call 24/7) and he told us he was sorry, but there was no way he was going to come out at midnight to take care of a sick goat. So we resorted to calling friends.

  We reached the people who sold my Sister her Nigerian Dwarf goat (good thing they were friends of ours and did not mind us calling at now one in the morning). They gave us all the information we needed and we applied it to my goat.

  Just as Mystery Man (we called him Manny) was starting to improve he just quite breathing and died at two Friday morning. All of our Nubian Does were in the pen with him as he was dying so they were rather upset all day yesterday. I really hoped he had completely bred with the Does. This was a very good and sweet Buck.

Here is picture of Manny;

 (I will try and have a better one posted later.)

In the words of George Bernard Shaw,"A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing."

Sincerely,

~Mary-Ann~

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. That's the side of farming/raising animals that we never get used to.

Take care,

Amy

Hugs dear one....Farming isn't easy, but it can be fun and very rewarding...losing a pet/animal is never easy! At least you have pictures of your goat to remember him by!

Hugs and Blessings,
Kelly
