The Treasures in the Trunk.

Posted in The Treasures in the Trunk

This is where I will talk about my Antique toys, books and games that I collect. The reasoning behind this title has to do with the toy that started it all. A doll named "Clara".

In this state auctions are a very popular thing. We like to go to them to look for antique furniture and farming tools. This story is about a particular auction that happened about six years ago. We went there to look for furniture when up came these two suitcases from the 1930's, so we decided to bid on them. five dollars later we walked away with them. Very proud of our find we took our suitcases home and opened them. there laid "Clara".

She was lovely. She had no dress so I made her a blue one with a white apron. She had no markings or dates. Her lovely real red hair was hand curled. She had a hand painted face. like I said before she was lovely.

She reminded me of Clara from the Shirley Temple movie "Heidi". So that is how she got her name.

Clara has sat on my dresser since. Many toys have joined her over time and I am sure more will follow. I will add more stories and photographs of my toys and games. Thank you for reading.

In the words of Marie Curie "One never notices what has been done; one can only see what remains to be done."

Sincerely,

~Mary-Ann~
