Back to normal?

Posted on Monday, January 5, 2009 at 6:51 PM by Kitty - 2 Comments - Post Comment - Link

  What is normal, really? I don't think things were ever normal per say. LOL But we are back to our regular scheduled program.  Grinding is over and my husband is back working his regular 6 to 5 hours instead of the afternoon hours that he had for the past four months. And school will be up and running  tomorrow morning.

   We would have started back with school this morning but I had a doctors appointment with my GYN.  I have a love hate relationship with this man. Love the person that he is, but hate what he does, if you know what I mean. The most embarrasing day of the year for me, the wellness visit.  Yuck! And it probably wouldn't be that bad if it would end after only the one visit, but each year there is a problem that needs futher attention. And this year is no different. I have been having pains in my lower stomach and lower back area so he wants a vag. ultrasound. I had them schedule the mammogram and the ultrasound on the same morning of Jan. 29th.  He wanted to do a MRI but me and those tiny sausage like machines don't get along. Last time I was stuffed into one I paniced and had to be removed after only about 30 seconds. So I nixed that idea right away. The ultrasound was option B. I'm not going to know anything for at least another six weeks so I'm not going to stress or worry about it. God is in control, so no need for worries.

   Also ran to the DMV today after the doctor's appointment to drop off a license plate of a car that I just sold and to get my 15 year old an ID. He is way big for his age and no one believes him when he says that he is only 15. He turns 16 this next Monday on the 12th and now has to buy hunting and fishing licenses,  so he will need this  ID to do that. Well nothing got done at the DMV because as soon as we opened the door I saw that the place was packed to the roof. What is it about DMVs?  I told him we would return  early in the morning  and try to beat the rush. He was a little disappointed but understood. He is such a good kid.

   I took my current issue of Mother Earth News with me to the doctor's office today and read a few aticles on gardening. I am so ready for a spring garden, heck I'm just ready for spring, period. I'm done with the cold and all the brown deadness everywhere. Bring on the color and the flowers!

OK Ladies, this is must have!

  One of my Christmas gifts this year was a Ped Egg. It was given to me by my wonderful daughter. She put together a beautiful gift basket of different lotions, brushes, powder, soaps, and this great gadget. I waited a day or two before I had time to use it. But I finally used it and I just have to tell you all that it is fantastic.

   I have always had bad feet because I love running around bare foot and we all know that isn't very good for our little tootsies. My heels were almost always dry and cracked, and most times I was embarrased to wear sandles or backless shoes. Well not anymore. This wonderful little invention has cured all of that. I'm telling  you ladies, its fantastic.  A friend of mine has one and I watched her use it on herself and to be honest it kinda grossed my out at first, you know, dead skin and all, lol. But it really works.

  So next time your at the store and you pass by this item, and you have problem feet, pick this up. It is one of the best buys for your $10.  This not a commercial and I'm not being paid for this, LOL it's just me wanting to share a good thing with friends.

Another one has come and gone

   Another year has come and gone, and I have to say, I'm kinda glad. I don't usually say that 'cuz with each passing year and/or day, I get a little older, but 2008 wasn't a banner year for me. The whole thing with mom's Alzheimers taking over her life poor heart and me having to put her in a home wasn't a good thing to say the least. Not too mention the hurricanes that hit us, the lost of several people in my life and last but not least, my husband wanting a divorce, well as I said, I'm glad it's over.  I do hope and pray 2009 brings a much better outcome. I do see good things ahead for me if God willing.

   The last couple of days were busy ones for me.  Not long ago my husband came home with two little pigs and on Tuesday we slaughtered one for a New Years gathering here at our home.  So I have been getting ready for that, cooking and baking, and  yesterday we had 27 people here for lots of good food and a good time. It didn't take as long to cook the little fellow as I thought it would. We put him on the rotisserie  around 6:30 yesterday morning and it was done by noon. Pretty good. We still had lots of fire so I ran to the store and bought four chickens to cook. I figured I wouldn't have to cook for a couple of days. Well to my surprise, most of it all went. There is no  chicken left, what didn't get eaten here was taken home by some family members. Not fair! LOL

   The guys are out fishing this morning so I will be working on school plans for the rest of the year. I do half in August and the other half now. This is just incase we get off schedule or Zach falls behind in something that we need to keep working with, which is the case in Math this time.  So with that said, let me get off of here. I have a batch of clothes to put out on the line and one to fold, then off to the lesson plans.

   I do hope everyone had a wonderful New Years and that everyone HAS a great new year filled with blessings and prosperity.

Baby mitts

Posted on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 05:55 by haflinger - 1 Comments - Post Comment - Link

Another great one from Provo craft..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Provo Craft Tools
  • Knifty Knitter Flower Loom
  • hook
  • blue yarn needle
Other Supplies
  • 1 skein of blue baby yarn
  • 1 skein of white baby yarn
BABY MITTS INSTRUCTIONS (Flower Loom) Skill level: Beginner
Step 1: Using one strand of the blue yarn and one strand of the white yarn (holding them together as if they were one strand), wrap the 12 pegs according to the method shown in the Round Loom instructions.
Step 2: Wrap and “knit off” five rows of knitting, using the hook as shown in the Round Loom instructions.
Step 3a: Using the crochet hook, take the loop from the 1st peg and then from the 2nd peg.
Step 3b: Pull the 2nd loop through the 1st loop and place the loop back on the 2nd peg.
Step 3c: Take the loop from the 3rd peg and then from the 4th peg. Pull the 4th loop through the 3rd loop and place the loop back on the 4th peg.
Step 3d: Continue in this manner until you have taken the 12th loop through the 11th loop and placed the loop on the 12th peg. You will now have 6 loops on the loom.
Step 4: Wrap the loom 2 more times. Now some pegs will have 3 loops and others will have 2 loops. For the pegs that have 3 loops on them, knit the bottom 2 loops over the top loop. For the pegs that have 2 loops on them, knit the bottom loop over the top one, just like normal. When you are finished, there will only be one loop on each peg.
Step 5: Wrap and knit off 9 more rows. Thread the blue yarn needle with one strand of yarn, and sew the yarn through the loops on the pegs (pulling the loops off the pegs as you go). When you have sewn through all the pegs, pull the two ends of the yarn to gather the material and tie them in a tight square knot. (This is the same method you would use to finish a hat on the Round Loom.) Repeat Steps 1 – 5 to make a mitt for the other hand.
Step 6: You can string a ribbon through the holes in the top of the mitts or, using one strand of yarn, make an I Cord (see directions below) and put a pom-pom on each end to string through the holes.
  • I Cord: Using any 2 pegs on any of the looms, wrap 2 loops on each peg in a figure 8 design. Take the bottom loop over the top loop and over the peg. Continue wrapping in the figure 8 and knitting over. This will form your I Cord.
