The Year the tree didnt get decorated

DH and I went and got our tree around the first of Dec..It was a lovely outing up in the hills  just a small amount of snow made it easy to get to the trees I enjoy so.  We looked and looked and found the perfect one... and it is perfect...on our way out of the woods we  looked for mushrooms as DH has gotten quite into mushrooming.. and I enjoy it as well.. we found a few that were good, and a few that were not..

When we got home it was supposed to get cold and freeze, so we brought the tree in and set it up in the holder...its a reagal looking tree  very tall and straight.. nice strong limbs.. as it was sunday we deicded to not decorate it until the following weekend..  so the next weekend I am making plans and DH got a call his mother was very ill, he had to fly out that day and little did I know that I would not see him for 2 weeks or so... all holiday matters were put on the back burner...

The prognosis was not good for my MIL and DH stayed as long as he could...he had a ticket home one day and she worsened so he stayed a few more days... but then he had to leave.. he got home on tuesday the 18th.. It was sure nice to see him...on Satuday the 22nd we got word that MIL was having some problems, she left her earthly body early in the afternoon... while we are thankful she is not suffering any long we still feel sad at her passing...

On the 23 I thought I should do something about that tree but just did not have the energy to do it... on the 24 we spent part of the day getting ready to go to my folks house and have our annual Christmas eve get together.. so the tree did not get decorated then... Christmas morning I put the packages for DD under it and  decided that this year the tree would NOT get decorated... I think it is probably one of the prettiest trees we have had.  I think maybe I like the natural look:>  I think DH is going to use the wood from it to make a pole for our rondezvous tent...

I am sorry to hear about the death in the family!!!! This is hard, and even harder it seems around the holidays.

I bet the tree is gorgeous. I was telling hubby last night about the tree we had several years ago that only had home made ornaments and popcorna dn cranberries strung upon it. It was the most memorable tree we have ever had.
