Hectic Heaven

Not only do I have stinky dogs, I have escape artists as well... and longwinded meandering thoughts

I had Jesse, the lab the only dog that didnt get skunked last night, outside for a potty break when her ears perked up and she started pointing, following her lead I looked out into the yard and there were 9 of my 10 chickens, happily eating, Im assuming the most delicious bugs, and I was afraid if I didnt get Jess back inside she would decide to have a most wonderful chicken dinner.  That goofy dog tried every way she could thing to get to those chickens witout openly disobeying me...I got the dog inside and decided even chickens needed a vacation from the drudgery of their chicken coop so I left them out for a bit... I did find the hole in the fence and repaired it.. opened the coop door so they could return if they wanted.. and spent some time pulling weeds out of the raised bed.. they finally mosied back in and the door was shut...and the hole patched.

The last days have been made worse by the fact that I seem to be very hormonal and dreading my 45th birthday tomorrow..so I have been quite, aggitated to say the least... my DH loves me and says he is laughing with me....I dont really think he knows how much he is taking his life in his hands when he does this... but I guess Im glad someone is enjoying this  lol.

I talked to my mom today, she and dad are in Alabama visiting with some friends...I was whining to her about the unfairness of turning 45, when she said... you think your birthday is hard on you...its harder on me... I proceeded to tell her that, that thinkology didnt fly with me at 45 anymore then it did when I was 10 or so and they would say this hurts me more then it does you when they spanked me...she was still laughing when we hung up... So I have decided for everyones safety I will not talk to anyone else today...

DH asked me what I wanted for my birthday and did I want him to just surprise me... so I asked him what he had in mind... he said he thought a cell phone holder so I didnt have to keep the phone in my pocket.... I told him I would rather have a couple of new stainless steele bread pans... he was relieved and said we would go look for them tomorrow...  I never knew I was so hard to shop for....all you have to do is look at what my current projects are and the sky is the limit.... But  my DH thinks if you dont like Jewelry or perfume your hard to by for...Perfume makes me sneeze and the only jewelry I wear are my wedding ring and a black hills gold ring that belonged to my gram.. I remember loving that ring when I was a kid, she always wore it... just as I do...she gave it to me a couple of months before she passed about 6 years ago...Its been on my fingers since...

Let me tell you about my gram..Grandma June, she was awesome... she sewed and quilted, she loved to crochet and she grew the most wonderful garden every year....if it didnt crawl away from her, it went into a jar and into the pantry.  She had a good sense of humor and laughed alot....whenever we went to visit as a child we ALWAYS made a batch of cookies...she taught me how to use a pressure cooker.  She had to leave way to early, I still had much to learn from her...she was the homesteader I wish to be...I think that is where the interest I have in homesteading came from....

Now my other Grandma, Grandma Mom was equally as awesome but just about the extreme opposite...she was a city gal... but she was resourceful, she could and would fix anything that broke down...she loved to read and loved music, and shared that love with us kids, she was never to busy to read a story, or play a game, she to enjoyed growing things...she could take any house and make it a home, we called her seargant(sp) whenever mom had a baby she came to ride herd on us kids..she always smelled of oil of olay hahaha...

I miss my grandma's... I have been so lucky to have such a supportive and loving family...... sorry for the book...  Have a wonderful day.

You have a wonderful sense of humor. (Dare I say it?) I'm 46 and I guess since the alternative of growing old is death, and I don't think the Good Lord is ready for me yet, I'll grow old as gracefully as possible. I'm hoping maybe like Christy Brinkley. :?)
Since I resemble Shelly Winters it might be a bit hard to accomplish. Thanks for your blog.
