Skunks and dogs

Last night while watching the olympics,  the unmistable smell of skunk started wafting thru the house, jumping from my chair I ran to the door, gingerly opening it to make sure the source of that smell was not on my front porch.  I could hear my beloved (this morning that is said tongue in cheek) scooter barking in the distance,  Molly was on the porch wanting in.   I was hoping that in his twelve years with me, he might have learned that you dont mess with the black kitty's with the white stripe down their back... but nope  he didnt... and to make matters worse I didnt realize this until he was in the house.   He was quickly banished to the laundry room while I prepared the magical cure.... he was then uncerimoniously(sp) dumped in the bath tub.  Now you have to understand  scooter HATES baths....but he got one... and now he smells much better...  whats the cure you ask...... well let me share it with you..... take one 32 oz bottle peroxide  to that add 1/4 cup baking soda  and to that I added a tsp of dish soap.  This has been around a while and works very well.    I always keep a bottle or two of peroxide around for just such an occasion...

The bad thing is he didnt even know he was being helped, and after his bath would not respond to me short of a glare... but this morning when I let him out of the laundry room he was his usual talkative self.. so all is well in his world....

Our dogs occasionally tangle with shunks so I can really use this recipe! They're not house dogs, but it's still hard to go around them long enough to even take care of them without a clothes pin on your nose!
