Hectic Heaven

My day

I got called to go into work early today.. all the recess duty aids were out sick, and let me tell you it was one cold day... I was  outside from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm except for a few minutes between lunches... It blew, it rained, it sleeted and it snowed... and the sun shined in between. 

On my way home I stopped at the store to get some things to make minestrone soup...at least it sounds warm... I got home and thought I will get all the outside chores done so I can come in take a warm shower and get warmed up...

My first stop was the chicken pen...I went and got the food, lifted the primitive latch on the door and walked in..... just as I started pouring the food in the feeder I heard the clunk of wood as it fell back into place.. locking me in....I went over and tried the door and sure enough it was latched rock solid.. now any other day I have to fight the thing to lock tight..but today... I dont know I guess someone on high has a sense of humor.... the first thing I did was think, I'll call someone if I cant get the door open... and tapped my pocket, only to find that my cell phone was not in there...  I started looking for something I could raise the latch with.. that was skinny enough to reach thru... I found one stick but it was to thick....all the while I was keeping my eye on the rather ornery rooster  that lives in that coop.. he is prone to sneak attacks... and what better time then when I had my back to him... he was to busy eating, so I went on my way to  find another stick... I found another but it was so rotten that I didnt think it would do it... so ever so slowly I pushed, and I was free... 

I turned  Jessy the black lab loose and grabbed some alfalfa to feed the goats who were by now lined up at the fence yelling at me... I swear they were saying..."we know your in there come out and feed us".   

I am now safely in the house all critters tucked in for the night... a crockpot of soup cooking in the kitchen.... the teapot is calling me... a nice warm cup of chocolate or tea sounds good.. followed by a warm shower......Oh one more thing.. as I was headed out the door at work today they said "We need you again tomorrow...ALL DAY,  hmm wonder how long it will take to crochet a scarf...I think its supposed to warm up tomorrow... sure hope so!

It's blizzarding here for the second time this week. I wish I could join you for some hot chocolate. One horse is injured, our septic froze and they misplaced my dh's paycheck again. But-these things are fixable.
Out on the playground, I used a polar fleece gator, quick to make and warmth when you need it.
