I got to thinking today (I know its a scary thought) about garbage

As I hauled the trash out to the  can so it could be hauled off today I got to thinking about the amount of garbage we are contributing to the landfill.   I'm going to start thinking out loud now.. we have just about got our house cleaned up and out... so my thought is to try to do things in such a way that we can CUT OUT our garbage service.  1. saving money and 2 contributing less to the garbage problem.  I  really am pretty careful most of the time already  but  think maybe I can walk  a bit more gently on  mother earth...

chickens

compost pile

goats

dogs

Ok looks like most food stuff can be handled by critters...other then the bones how should one dispose of them?    What little paper we might generate can be recycled or burned (I prefer not to do much burning) so that leaves me with plastics and cans are things like shampoo bottles and other big plastic things like  jugs laundry soap or dish soap might come in, how would one best dispose of them... are they recyclable...I guess its time to make a trip to the rccycle center to see just exactly what they take... I would love to hear any thoughts anyone has on how to deal with garbage. 

In my attempt to rid the house of extra stuff I hauled off 2 of the 3 shampoo bottles DH had sitting in the shower thinking they were empty... apparently I took the one he was still using and left the empty one... OPPS!   well at least I got a good chuckle out of it... all I can say is it must have been pretty close to empty...hahahaha...
