Birthdays, a curse or a blessing?

Now it is not my birthday, not anywhere close in fact.. but it was my Dads yesterday...he is 67 I think..right in there somewhere.... anyway, he and Mom are out on the road right now so I gave him a call to wish him a happy birthday... he was just finishing up a very nice T-bone steak dinner and sounded like he had enjoyed it muchly... but what he told me kind of surprised me...He said he had had a great birthday, not because of the fancy dinner or anything like that, but because he was still here to enjoy them... I told him I sure didnt see birthday's that way, and he kind of laughed and said..." Yes but someday you will". That got me to thinking... now me thinking can be a down right dangerous thing....I think its time I change the way I look at this birthday thing, (it has been getting harder each year to face them).... I need to be happy I have had one more year that I could be with my family and friends! One more year I was able to learn and do new things... sumthin to think about huh? Have a good day...

Yea when I called to wish him Happy Birthday he told me, "thanks, and I hope I have many more". It seemed sort of odd at the time. HIs attitude is definately a good one to have.

Yes, this is definitely the mindset to have about our Birthdays. It's hard but it really is a blessing when you look at it the right way. I try!
