Seeds and spring fever

I just saw the girls(goats) run past my back window, must be raining again   I just got back from buying chicken feed and the store has their seeds out.  Mmmmmmm time to start planning,  I would like to plant a cool weather garden, this year.  Im thinking that maybe some  Kolrabi, brocolli, cabbage.  Since I will be off work most of the summer, I am going to plant a serious garden, by serious I mean one that will provide quite a bit of produce that we can eat and  I can put up.  In the past I have just planted pretty much just a salad garden,  few tomatoes, a pepper or two, some zuchini, some lettuce.  I am so hungry for a good fresh out of the garden tomato.

The key for me is to not get in to big of a hurry to plant,  we seem to get a spell of good weather here and I get a major case of spring fever, and plant everything, then along comes a sneaky frost, and  well, I have to start all over again...  now you would think that I would learned by now...my father seems to get much amusement out of this , as he chuckles about it on a regular basis.... I think mainly because he is glad HE isnt the only one that has done it  lol

I am considering growing some potatoes this year... our ground has alot of clay in it and I have read about digging a trench and laying your seed potato in the ditch and covering with straw,  have any of you tried this way of  planting potatoes?  what are your thoughts on this.

I think this years garden will have the following: tomatoes, green beans, peppers, zuchini, carrots, brocolli, kolrabi, cauliflower, some gourds, pumkins, perhaps a few winter squash, corn.

Simple pleasures for the day

warm cup of tea, with a tsp. of sweet slow moving honey produced on my folks place.

soft soothing music

medication for the migraine
