Flaming chicken or beer can chicken revisited...

I decided to try the beer can chicken again last night... Its amazing how good and moist cooking it this way makes them.... a few things I learned last night.... dont tell your DH that you only needed 1/2 the can of beer and therefore dumped the rest down the sink...this will cause him to look at you like you grew another head, that a tall can of beer works better then a short can, and placing either foil or some kind of pan under the chicken helps to prevent the flaming chicken episodes...
I am wondering if a person even needs to use beer....I think its the moisture steaming up in the inside that makes it so good.. so why not something like chicken broth or apple juice, just save and rinse out a tall can... I salt and pepper and put herbs and spices all over it.. inside and out... then set it on the grill and cook it about 15 minutes as hot as I can get the grill... I then turn one side off and and turn the other side down low.... keeping it at about 350 -400.... and let it go for 45 minutes... an hour cooking time total.... I also wrap some spuds up and throw them in to cook as well... this made a very nice dinner with very little fuss or muss... I figured out the easiest way to get the can out of the chicken without filling the chicken with hot beer... take a jar lifter and grasp the chicken and a set of tongues for the beer can... worked like a charm...
We spent a good part of yesterday looking for and at air mattresses.. to add to our primitive camp:> sounds primitive huh hahaha....anyone had any experience with these things? what ones do you like best or dislike the most....
Today is pretty quiet... I have cut and filed soap labels so when I am ready to start labeling them I can just grab a label and go.... I think I am going to give the apple cake a practice run today.... well I guess I better get busy...... have a wonderful day Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 213 of 333 } { Next Page } |
