Its been some time since I posted so here is a catch up.... I got sick a week or so ago and it sapped me pretty good.. about the time I was starting to get back up on my feet, I guess everyone at the school district came down with the same "food poisoning" I had lol.. so I have been working quite a few hours.... we are trying to get our garden in in the process... I have planted onion, strawberries, rosemary, sage, thyme, oregono, and basil also beets and kohlrabi. The grass is growing in leaps and bounds at the moment ,and keeping it under control seems to be a full time job in itself... I love this time of year and even though I spend much of it on a mower at least I have a beautiful view lol
I decided to try some of what they call companion planting... Im going to plant my corn first and when its comes up good will plant my pole beans by them... I have several heirloom melon varietys to try this year and they have all popped up and seem to be doing well... I am also planting a bean called "Indian woman bean" its a bush bean that you dry the beans, they are about navy bean size but kind of a mustard yellow color.. very good.
My folks made it back from their trip around the states.. they had a wonderful trip and covered many states... they got home saturday night and I guess my brother had to tow them the last 25-30miles.. is that lucky or what... well not lucky about that transmission, but lucky they were so close to home....
Yesterday was a pretty lazy day around here...I was resting up for this week coming.. Im working at the high school, which always wears me out lol.. I also found out that I will be hired on at the school district for summer help, this is extremely good news for us. Next weekend we have a mothers day shoot at the range and I have to get measurement from a fella so I can make him a capote.. I have decided the money I make doing these side things.. (sewing, weaving and so on) I am going to save towards a flour grinder and then maybe a bosch mixer... I have a mixer, but it only will mix 7 cups of flour (most recipes I use are 8+) and it seems to really bog it down if any of its WW...
I would be very interested in hearing about the different grinders folks have, and what they like and dont like about them.... I will be using the grinder for wheat, corn and beans. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the beautiful spring weather...
