Hectic Heaven

Calls that come in the middle of the night...

The phone rang at 4 am this morning,   and after my body untensed (do you know what the phone ringing does to a body at 4 in the morning..) I  picked up the phone and mumbled something into the receiver that Im sure he was probably not easily able to make out...  I think it was hello... the reply back was a bright.... "Hello there... whatcha doin".. I was becoming more concious and a bit more aggravated by the chipper cheery voice on the other end... I said  "Im sleeping" who is this... the young man answered again in his  obnoxiously cheery voice... "this is Dave"   I replied back, I dont know a DAVE in my increasingly irritated voice.  Im thinking, beleive it or not the gears had kicked in.. and Im wondering if this is my brother... nope sounds to young...and besides my brother lives to close and would  obtain  great bodily injuring for calling me and such an early hour, without a very good reason...so I know its not him...  then on the other end is that cheery voice again.... Sorry I guess I got the wrong number...  hmmm ya think... ... so then I try to hang the phone up... I guess I had forgot to open my eyes, because when I tried to put the phone back on the cradle, I hit that little button you push when you cant find your phone and it beeps until you turn it off.... 

so now Im slapping at the base trying to find the button to turn the noise off... finally peace...

I cuddle back in and get comfy again...and then my brain turns on and things start racing thru it at warp speed...after a few minutes of this I get my brain geared down and  start to get drowsy... I am pretty close to  dropping back off to dreamland... and  the phone rings... I answered it... it was that same  very irritating cheery voice... Hey there.. whatcha doin,   I moaned and Im afraid I probably yelled into the receiver at this point... Dave you have the wrong number.. and click down went the receiver, I hit the right spot this time... no beeping..  and fell back asleep....I guess Dave  found whoever he was calling...or maybe just gave up for the night...  because he didnt call back again...
