Good Friday Service, it was hard to hear

{ 04:08, 2008-Mar-22 } { 2 comments } { Link }

I went to the Good Friday Service yesterday, it was so nice to be out and at church.  But the service was hard to hear as it is every year.  I do not like to hear about all the pain and suffering Jesus went through.  I know he did it out of love for us, so we all can go to be with the father, to save us.  But it is just so hard to hear.

This year are Pastor David did a lot more on Mary.  He did a great job.  It really hit home with me and the girls.  His sermon hit him hard as well.  He started on how hard it was for Mary back then to be pregnant with out being married, to give birth with out being married. The way the people in their town looked and spoke about her for 33 years.  Then he went on how us parents love our babies so much and how we want only what is best for them and for every one to love your child.   How when we are handed our new babies how much love just fills us up, the joy we have.  Then went on to how much they change from a newborn to crawling , pulling themselves up and when they get boo-boo's how we pick them up and kiss them and hug them, then they start to toddle about, same thing they fall we pick them up and more kisses to make them better.  Then as they get older we want to protect them from the rude mean people in the world, other children also.  How we kiss them and hug them to help them to feel better, even as teens we do.  How we still do all that when they are young adults.

Now it gets harder.  Can you stand in Mary's shoes?  I know I can't. Can you see your child you have gave birth to hugged and kissed all the boo-boo's away, just held in your arms just looking at your wonder not being able to take your eyes off of them, to smell that sweet baby smell, to have them fall a sleep on your chest, the child you helped to learn how to toddle about, to become a a young child, the one you taught about God, the one you prayed over, the one you cried over, the one you taught right from wrong, the one who is your best friend,  your blessing from God.   Mary did all those with her precious baby Jesus, all beat up, his beard ripped out of his face, his head wearing a thorn crown , his back beaten open, walking close to him as he carried his own cross that he would die on, to watch as the nailed her baby to the cross, to watch every breath he took hurt him, to see your baby up there suffering and to see other people enjoying it. To hear your sweet baby give you a new son his beloved John, and to see your baby give you to John as his new mother. At the end to see them give away your child clothes to the guards, to see the guards gamble for his robe, to see them Peirce your baby side to make sure he is gone.  Can you stand in Mary's shoes?  I know with out a doubt I could not!  I would rather it be me not my baby. To watch knowing it has to be done and you can not stop or change anything, you watch your baby who toddle to you on those unsteady legs to you, the one you kissed when he did toddle to you, to see that child suffering and not be able to do a thing.  I tell my babies they could be 150 years old sitting in a rocking chair next to me and daddy in matching rocking chairs and they will still be my babies.  I am glad Jesus died for our sins, so we could be with him later, when we are done here.  But it is hard to hear and read about what he went through for us.  It is also hard to think about what Mary went through watching her baby boy.  What a good sermon, but it also was heart breaking.

God Bless all, mj

What an Honor

{ 07:17, 2008-Mar-22 } { Posted by toby0131 }
What an honor to be in Mary's shoes. It would be utterly amazing to walk a day in her shoes, but on the same note, I cannot imagine having to endure all that she went through. She had to have had incredible faith and trust in God.

For her to be there while Jesus was being beaten, judged and crucified, must have required incredible strength. Only God could have gotten her through that trial. She had to watch those horrible things being done to Jesus and I know if I had to do the same with my children today - I'm not sure how I would handle things.

Happy Easter & God Bless,
Michelle

I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday. I've enjoyed looking at the pictures of your dog and baby goat laying together. How sweet!!
