How much time does your hubby spend with you just you.

Like dinner out, over night trips, a whole day of just you and hubby? No children.

We are wondering if we are normal or off.

We spend a lot of time with our children, we even took them out for our

15 yr ann. My parents think we are nuts.

My hubby also spend a lot of time fishing and hunting, some times he is gone for 8 days.

We have never had a big vacation as a family , nor have we ever been away from the

children  for more than 2 days. Our families will not watch the children while we go some where, they say they will but when we ask ( a few weeks notice) they all so sorry bizzy.

My parents do not see the girls unless they clean or run errands with my mom, they have only taken the girls out once in the past year. My parents will not go to the girls horse or pig shows

even if it is 3 miles away from home. ( my parents live 12 houses away from us) My hubby's mom lives out of state and I have a hard time going there leaving them and going some where.

If there was a emergency we would be far away from the girls. I have a hard time leaving them too far away , due to our oldest daughter was kidnapped, I want them close so we can keep them safe.

Can you guys tell me about  the time you and hubby spend together ( time wise).

Thanks , God Bless, mj

My children are all grown.......

and my DH works 12 hours shifts, he also works one of his days off a week. He has been doing it since I quit my job ( due to health reasons) last May. But on his one day off he is very attentive to me, but we also tend to have a grandchild or two with us when he is off.

My oldest daughter and her husband have three children. Ages 13, 11 and 8. The are with their kids as much as they can be. Once and a while they have a night out , just for the two of them.
My youngest daughter and her husband have two kids, Ages 18 months and 9. They NEVER leave theirs with anyone.
I don't think there is a normal you should be measuring yourselves against. What is right for you may not be right for someone else. I can tell you that after they are all grown up you starve for their attention!! I adore my three daughter and their families. I cannot get enough of them.

My husband and I don't spend much time alone at all without the children. We have found when we do go out say to dinner or something we are always like - Kelly would like that or Kris needs to see this ect. We just love spending time as a family! We both feel that we really have such a short time with the kids before they grow up and want to go out into the world that I want to spend as much time as possible with them now.
Both my parents have passed away already but my husbands parents have taken Kelly for weekends to stay with them - during that whole time the rest of us are like "Where's Kelly", even Kris misses her. We just enjoy doing things together : )

Time with DH

We had kids right away.
And we didn't do day care / baby sitters. We didn't leave them, we didn't have anyone else care for them.
We couldn't afford vacations.
We just hung out.
My dh worked days, and I worked nights......so we didn't see each other much. We had to do what we did to keep our heads above water.
Now that the kids are older (15 14 12) we can 'sneak off to Lowes" for a couple of hours.......but we don't leave them alone for much longer than that.
Right now, our season of life is this: To raise the kids to be godly people,to be productive people, to be healthy people! We can't do that if they are not around us / with us all the time!! So we shall wait, and God willing when they grow up and move out, my dh and I can spend our "twilight" years doing whatever we want!!

My husband and I spend alot of time together. BC it was 24/7, now I SAH with DS while he works. It is fairly unusual for just the 2 of us to get time together except after DS has gone to bed. If we have to leave him then it is with family and that isn't often. I don't know if this helps at all.

My husband and I take our kids with us everywhere. They are our God-given responsibility and it's taken seriously. Besides, it's fun having them with. My husband is very attentive to me and we have some alone time to watch movies and talk, after the kids go to bed. This is a blended family , so we've always had kids in the house. Once a year, on our anniversary, we leave the kids with my mom and dad and go out to dinner. Thing is, we can't wait to get back and pick them up. My husband is an OTR trucker and is gone alot. We treasure our time together.

We farm with DH's family so if we spend any time together it's when we are working and the kids are with one of his brothers or their families. We do go out to dinner 2 or 3 times a year without the kids. We once left our oldest for 3 days while we took our son in to have his tonsils out. I've only left then all over night when I've been in the hospital having another baby.

As for time alone we have after the kids go to bed or if we are in the house while the kids are outside playing.

When we had the children at home, we left them with sitters once in a while and went out, but not very often. We worked and vacationed together as a family. When we became empty nesters, we did nearly everything together, after work hours. When we moved to Historic Murphy's Landing, I was part-time and Norm was full time - we lived on site, so Norm was home for all meals and even came in to have coffee and say hi - if I wasn't out helping him even on my off hours. Now we are retired and spend 95% of our time together - we are best friends ... I help him outside with his projects if need be, he helps with housework and laundry. He does the heavy stuff that I can't do. I sometimes go on a vacation without him, but rarely and never since we have retired.
Life is good!
