The Queen of Quite Alot

~Come to me, my bride, my queen you shall be. Song of Songs 4:8~

is for good men to do nothing.-Edmund Burke

Clean Slate

I haven't been around much more than to occassionally update, and haven't been reading any other blogs. I have felt very overwhelmed and in over my head lately. My husband I have decided to make some big changes around here so I can keep what little bit on sanity I have left! Discouragement has become a habit- but I have kept my nose in the Bible alot, and asked my Father to send me some fresh air for my soul- He is faithful and has! Today, for one thing, my Above Rubies Magazine came in the mail! This is such a tremendous mag- I really get my head lifted up with this. I'm hoping to get Tara and Michelle to go with me to the Above Rubies Retreat in May. It's only a couple hours away.

To make life more manageable, we have made a list of things we are and are not doing:
  1. No school the rest of this week, except journals.
  2. Spring cleaning the house. One room per day.
  3. Making a menu and sticking to it.
  4. Thinning out the undesirable critters. That's 4 cats, a dog, and two horses. Two goats left yesterday, in trade for a meat lamb.
  5. Get the rototiller fixed and get busy getting the gardens ready for planting in May.
  6. Put Handsome Rob and the fancey chicks in the barn! Give them a heat lamp, yes...but certainly I cannot abide these critters in the house for one more day! Ugh! okay- I'm okay. Shh. Relax. Am I talking out loud? Er...I mean typing out loud?
  7. Get the last two cats that aren't fixed done soon.
  8. Quit having hard, unreasonable expectations of myself. Whew.
  9. Recognize, as my husband says, that I am really the Queen(of quite alot) here, and can do as I please! Change schedules, go on a fieldtrip, have oameal for dinner...you get the idea.
  10. Have fun again. Read a fiction novel, relax.
See, a clean slate. I'm so glad my husband is supportive. He's home today, until Monday. Amazing. We had hardly seen him the past two weeks, and I'm bushed. A new start is very appropriate for spring, don't you think?

We all have...don't be so hard on yourself - I agree with hubby - if you need a day to stay in your pjs and read all day - do it - List, List, List - they make me feel so much better - if I just write down what I want to accomplish I feel better - it may not get done, till much later - but I have it down and it is there in front of me...

2006-Mar-24 - Winter blues here too!

Posted by mommyof2
I have the same problem and after praying much about it, the spring is coming and the Lord is restoring my sanity as well. I think it must be something about us homemakers that makes us this way. In the spring, we can plant and in the summer and fall, we are busy reaping and putting up our goodies. There really isn't much to look forward to in the winter though, at least after Christmas. Next year, I plan to have projects to occupy myself with, hoping that will make it better.
