The sun was shining again today and we went outside to play! Doug came
home from the other side of the mountains around 1:30, so afetr he read
mail and settled his bones, we went out to the barn.
He
rounded up the younger horses and penned them for me, while I set the
goats free. They love to get out on the pasture and literally, "kick up
their heels". Very fun to watch them dance and play.
While Doug cleaned out the horse's water trough, I took the boys down
to the lower part of our pasture to check for coyote sign. Our new doe
hasn't been accepted into the established herd ranks here yet, so she
follows us around like a dog. She came with us all the way down to the
fence line and back. The boys got a kick out of her.
I got alot done today, including making extra muffins and homemade
granola for the freezer. The kids played outside most of the day, and
then hung out with dad inside while I milked and gathered eggs. After
supper, which was baked taters, venison backstrap steaks smothered in
yellow sweet onions, and salad, I made my yummy soft serve. The recipe
for this is in the last post.
My sweet tooth is satisfied, my belly quite full, and now it's time for
peppermint tea and jammies. Ah...I love living in the country.
