Planning...& Cranberry Tea

How do you like this image of me, my dog, Tommy Pickles, and one of my does, Meta?

I'm starting to feel almost human again. Whew.
I had to get up in the middle of the night lastnight to jot down an idea before I went to sleep and forgot all about it. Do you ever do that?
Here's the idea:
When we start our lessons up again here in a week or so, our main focus will be on our Bible notebooks. We will study characters in there! David first. We will do a profile and timeline on him, have a section for maps, customs of his time and culture related things, a section for word studies so we can use all of our nifty concordances and dictionaries, and a section for narrations. Ben's will of course be mostly narrations and copywork. We will also keep track of prophesies and our memory verses.
I'm so excited about this project!
It really hit me that academics are getting a little too important, and I have always said I would rather have my children know God's word than know spelling rules and times tables. These are addressed too, but I really want them to know the WORD!

We also need to plan out our gardens this year and get to work on getting raised beds done as well as more shelters for the horses and goats up. We hope to sell two horses, and that will help out quite alot. I'm going to double my goat herd soon, and then I'd like to raise a couple calves and piglets, too. Our freezer is full of venison this year and next year, too! Doug's a good hunter. I'd also like to fill it with elk and pork, though.

Sometime soon our Pastor (quite a  homesteader) is going to come and help us build a  coyote-proof hen-house. I think I'll also get some more geese and two pet turkeys. My husband refuses to EVER butcher another bird, so...either they'll be giving us eggs and living to a ripe old age, or I'll trade a goat kid or two for a friend to butcher the poultry for me. I think trades are great instead of money when it comes to farm chores!

Well, I'm off to take a nap. I'm still not feeling great and I have about a mile high laundry pile to conquer. I would like to make some more cranberry tea, too, just in case I have a bladder or kidney infection. I'm not sure because my whole body hurts, not any one spot.

*Cranberry Tea*
Buy fresh bags of cranberries during the holidays and keep them in the freezer for all year!

Add one cup of cranberries to 5 cups boiling water, turn heat to low and cover. Simmer these until the berries burst. Let it sit for awhile and then strain the pulp off. Add a bit of raw honey to taste and keep the tea in a jar in the fridge and heat as needed.

do you know of any good websites on how to start a garden? I am so clueless. And you guys are welcome ANY time. i mean it. i'd be *over joyed* if you guys planned a trip out here. you could stay on our property. Bring a trailor and just stay on the other side of the pond and we can all go fishing. Come this summer. And bring the disco ball
