Giving Shots...

is not my forte!
I hate this part of ranching. I had to irrigate a nasty wound, insert tubes of meds, and also clean a teat and insert mastitis meds into that, but I still can't give shots! I tried 4 times this morning, got frustrated, lost my courage, and quit. These are the kind of days when I want to get rid of the critters and have my nails done and go to out to lunch and shopping with other women.
Ugh.
Guess I'll have to go right back out and try.

Goats are not easy to raise - whoever told me that was a blatant liar.

Okay- now I feel better. I'll go back to the barn and try again. If I don't get it this time the goat will have to perish.

I read your post about giving shots. About 5 years ago, we had pgyme goats(three). I had never raised goats before and I had only gave shots to our horses(once or twice).Well, this one goat got sick. So I had to give it shots. Okay. first day no trouble. Like you, I hated giving shots. Then the next night my dd went and got the goat and bought her to me for her shot. Well, I gave it the shot and a minute later the goat kills over. So my mom, holding the goat at the time, starts giving it mouth to mouth, trying to bring it back to life. My kids are screaming and crying and I have no clue as to what I did wrong. Well, anyway I don`t give shots anymore on the farm. I get someone else. Just thought I would share with you and I know how you feel about giving shots.
