2005-Dec-26 Goin' to Town Means... Posted in A Day in the Life When you live in the country on a farm or ranch, going to town means, first... 1) You find a mirror so you can see to pick all the hay out of your hair. 2) You wipe most of the manure off your boots. 3) You hose down the kids before herding them into the truck. ~and~ It means: 4) Your shopping list doesn't have eggs and milk written down. (those are things you get out of the barn). You have written down things like: a new shovel, wire clippers, two more pairs of gloves, livestock minerals, and nails. 5) You don't fight bumper to bumper traffic on your way, but you might have to stop for horseback riders, flocks of poultry, and elk. 6) You know that unlike in the city, where bad guys have guns, and you have to lock your car doors, in the country it's the good guys that all have guns.
