God loves a cheerful giver
Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

| Please continue to pray for my little Grand daughter, Velvet Rose. She is still in the hospital.
Ye are the sons of the living God
The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Your Kingdom Is Everlasting
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
The LORD sustains all who fall
And raises up all who are bowed down.
The eyes of all look to You,
And You give them their food in due time.
You open Your hand
And satisfy the desire of every living thing.

• Tue 19 Aug 2008 - Hope in the Midst of Suffering ..Charles Stanley
Hope in the Midst of Suffering
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
We all go through distressing times in life. These seasons of suffering may be brought about by relational difficulties, financial hardships, or other trials. But as God's children, we can take heart in knowing that our pain is not wasted.
Sometimes our pain is for the eternal benefit of others--the Lord uses it to reveal the genuineness of our faith so that others might see it and be drawn to His Son (1 Peter 1:7). By the way we respond to adversity, our belief in Jesus becomes visible to those around us. Believers will be encouraged, and seekers will ask us questions about our faith.
At other times, God uses trials to teach us to obey--Hebrews 5:8 tells us that even our Savior learned obedience from the things He suffered. Another purpose of hardship is to broaden our ministry. The apostle Paul's imprisonment let him minister among the guards, resulting in the salvation of many.
Difficulties can also be the Lord's tool in preventing a problem from happening--an unidentified ailment kept Paul from becoming prideful. When disobedience threatens our walk with God, He will take whatever steps are needed to draw us back to Him. He may allow a need to remain unmet or something cherished to be removed. His purpose is that we confess our sin and return to Him.
We may not know the reasons for our heartaches, but the wisest choice is to trust God. After all, He who saved us through the sacrifice of His Son has promised to use our suffering to bring about eternal good (Rom. 8:28).

|
His Return Is Soon!
Knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation."
For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
2 Peter 3:3-8 NKJV

In Touch Daily Devotional
by Dr. Charles Stanley
Monday, May 26, 2008 -- Waiting for God -- Psalm 27:14
Our culture is an "instant" society. Because of inventions like the computer and the microwave, we're used to quick results. A fast pace isn't necessarily bad, but we should guard against becoming so set on immediate fulfillment that we can't wait for God's timing.
This problem existed long before the computer age. In Genesis 15:4-5, God revealed to Abraham that though he and his wife Sarah were too old to have children, a great nation would come from him. Abraham believed God but soon decided to handle matters himself. He took Sarah's servant Hagar as his wife so she could bear the promised son.
Abraham probably rationalized his decision, figuring the Lord wanted him to have a son. Since it seemed impossible any other way, surely this must be what God wanted him to do! But it wasn't. Abraham had to deal with the consequences of his actions, including jealousy and resentment between Sarah and Hagar. These problems in turn created further difficulties, both in the short term and throughout history.
The Lord was faithful, though. 14 years later, Sarah gave birth to Isaac. But, the consequences of Abraham's decision to step out of God's plan are still with us. The two boys grew to become the fathers of nations which are in conflict to this very day.
Like Abraham, we might believe God's promises but prefer immediate results. Or we may just want things done our way. Instead, ask the Lord to lead you. Then wait for Him. His way may not be what you think you want, but it is always best. |

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is,
when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that

Aren't you glad that not even death can stop us from hearing

what about you?
PRAYER:
Thank you, Almighty God, that Jesus' resurrection demonstrated

promises to return, to raise me from the dead if I die before his
return, and to take me home to be with you. In the Savior's name.

http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Matthew+5:16&translation=kjv
THOUGHT:
As Christians, we are not called to isolate ourselves from
culture. We are not called to be hermits or monks. Instead, we are
to recognize that we are in a world of darkness and live as light
-- not as little candles tucked away in some inner bedroom, but as
candles set on their stands so all can see their light or cities on
a hill that can't be hidden. Of course, our goal is not to call
attention to ourselves, but to help others see the glorious grace
of our Father.
PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father, may my life bless others today, and
everyday, so they can see you and your love more clearly. In Jesus'
name I pray. Amen.

• Sat 26 Apr 2008 - God's Financial Plan - Acts 20:33-35
| God's Financial Plan - Acts 20:33-35
Welcome to the In Touch Devotional.
The Lord wants us to make wise decisions based on sound principles. But choices that follow His will aren't always compatible with the world's way of doing business. Some people may be surprised that the foundational concept of God's financial plan is to give rather than to save or invest.
First, give sacrificially. When the average person decides how much to donate toward charity, he considers his income versus his expenses. He chooses an amount that feels comfortable. In contrast, a sacrificial offering can mean a believer follows the Holy Spirit's leading to pledge resources beyond his means. Initially, some Christians may feel worried about exercising their faith in this way. But thankfully Philippians chapter 4:19 says God has promised to meet His children's needs. God's totally trustworthy.
Also, give compassionately. Psalm 24:1 tells us all resources belong to God. Believers with a generous spirit hold their material possessions loosely. They desire to use their share of the Lord's wealth to spread His blessing. A missionary, charity, or pastor does not have to beg them to part with their money.
God's financial plan differs from any we'll see in the world. But His principles have proven effective. The Bible and church history show this for thousands of years. His followers have chosen to give from a compassionate heart and a sacrificial spirit. And He rewards them with increased faith and enough material goods to meet their needs.

(Author: John Piper)
Every Christian should want to be a "fountain of life" for others. How does that happen?
Here is a group of passages that answer this question. The answer is in the order.
Psalm 36:9, For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.
Proverbs 16:22, Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it, But the discipline of fools is folly.
Proverbs 14:27, The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, That one may avoid the snares of death.
Proverbs 10:11, The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
Proverbs 13:14, The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, To turn aside from the snares of death.
