Cranberry Nut Swirls
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup finely chopped cranberries
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
1 T. grated orange peel
3 T. brown sugar
2 tsp milk
Combine the butter, sugar, egg and vanilla, beat until light and fluffy.
Combine the dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. In a small bowl combine walnuts, cranberries and orange peel.
On a floured surface roll the dough into a 10'' square. Combine brown sugar and milk and spread over the dough. Sprinkle with the cranberry mixture and roll up tightly. Wrap with wax paper and chill for several hours or freeze.
Cut into 1/4'' slices. Bake on a well greased cookie sheet at 375F for 14 minutes.
