Everyday Natural Medicine Kit

Drawing on herbs, aromatherapy, homeopathy, and supplements, here is a list of recommendations for what to include in a basic medicine kit for home or travels. With this you will not only avoid synthetic dyes and chemicals commonly found in over-the counter medicine kit ingredients and suspected of causing hyperactivity in children, but benefit from the age-old wisdom of herbalists and naturopaths:

Essential Oils
For topical use, add a few drops to 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil and swab the area. For aromatherapy use, put a drop or two on a hanky and sniff as needed.
lavender essential oil
French and Bulgarian lavender oils; anti-fungal, antibacterial, calming and relaxing.
peppermint essential oil
Recommended for easing migraines, to clear congestion; and to ease indigestion (1 drop in a glass of water or teaspoon of honey).
Rescue Remedy
A blend of five different flower essences discovered by Dr. Bach, homeopathic Rescue Remedy is a natural for treating anxiety.
Natural, homeopathic decongestant

Echinacea tincture
An immune system booster and anti-microbial.
Oscillococcinum homeopathic formula
Remedy for the flu.
Arnica homeopathic tablets (30x strength)
Used to reduce bruising, swelling, inflammation.
All-purpose Herbal Salve
Examples of products include those from Herbal Gardens.
St. John’s wort oil
Used topically, this oil has been shown to fight infection and help relieve pain and inflammation.
Antiseptic Cleanser
Choose a cleanser that is antiseptic because of the use of essential oils, such as Thieves Wipes.
Throat Lozenges
Antiseptic with essential oils, such as Thieves Lozenges.
Herb Pharm Echinacea/Propolis Spray
Ideal for sore throats.
