I have tomatoes on in my garden , none ripe, but lots of green ones. I think the tomato is my favorite summer veggie. i plant mine with marigold and basil all around it. The bees love it. I work my garden with bees flying all around me and have never been stung!  So far!! We also have a lot of bumble bees. They seem to prefer basil. They are so cute.

 Bacon and Tomato Salad Recipe

 Tomato and bacon salad recipe with hard cooked eggs and mixed greens.

INGREDIENTS:

2 medium tomatoes, peeled and quartered

4 slices bacon, diced and cooked until crisp, 1 tablespoon bacon drippings reserved

3 hard cooked eggs, quartered

4 cups mixed salad greens

French dressing or other dressing

salt and pepper to taste

PREPARATION:

Combine quartered tomatoes, bacon, reserved bacon drippings, hard cooked eggs, and mixed greens. Toss with a little dressing and season to taste with salt and pepper.
