My herbs are thriving, but so are the weeds! The lawnmower needs a new battery. Hurry up payday!

Onion Chives, Violas, Comfrey and variegated Tyme.

Yarrow, Rosemary , mints and Lavendar.

Lavendar, Rosemary, Catnip and Mint.

My grandson is working on the border for this bed. I will have to mulch it soon before the Texas heat starts up.

My bed of Garden Sage is fixing to bloom.

So much work to do and I am way behind. I still need to do a lot of planting and prepare some more beds. I have lots of goodies waiting to get in the ground. so many hobbies, so little daylight!

Your herbs look yummy. Makes me wish two things. 1. that I had got mine started earlier
2. that I lived in a warmer climate.

I've heard there are some good health benefits for all herbs but I have forgotten what the benefits are for comfry. What do you use it for.

This is the first year I have grown comfrey, so I really have not used it yet. It was so tiny when I got it I just tucked in the bed to over winter. From what you have said I will likely have to move it.

Wow! Your herbs look really great. Most of mine still have snow around them....although I did see the chives poking through. I have a question...Doesn't that comfrey get really big and overpower everything around it? Mine gets to be about three feet wide and just as tall. I can't plant anything close to it or it will just get shaded out. Also, in the third picture, what is that planted behind the lavender...with the blue flowers?

Anne, those blue flowers are the lavendar. I have three differant types planted.

Now that is encouraging for me...the heat and direct sun around here totally defy anything I've been raised to know about gardening :o)

Deanna, We have some truly hot summers here. But my herbs have a little bit of afternonn shade. It takes a lot of care to get them through the summer. I usually lose some.

Love those photos! After seeing yours, I had to put Yarrow on my wish list. It is so pretty and I haven't grown it in years. I also like Tansy; but it can get out of control quickly! We're way behind in the garden area, too. Last night's rain just put me a bit "behinder", too ;) LOL!

I have been trying to get some herbs starts going, but nothing seems to grow this time around.

I am afraid I'll never get it going from seeds and I don't want to spend a bunch of money on nursery grown plants.

Any advice?

You could try to get some starts from other growers near you. Most people are willing to share. I buy bedding plants sometime. They cost about 2.50 each.
