GRANDMA'S FRUIT COCKTAIL CAKE                  

2 c flour                                                1/4 tsp. allspice

1 1/2 c sugar                                        1/2 tsp. cinnamon

2 tsp. soda                                           2 eggs, beaten

1/4 tsp. salt                                           1 lrg can fruit cocktail, with juice

1/4 tsp. cloves

Place all ingredients in a large bowl.   Mix with a spoon.  Pour into a 13x9 inch pan.  Bake at 350* for 45 minutes or until cake test done.  Immediately top with frosting.

Frosting:

1 small can pet milk                              1 1/2 c sugar

1 stk. butter                                          1 tsp. vanilla

Place all ingredients in a small saucepan, bring to a boil over medium heat, boil for one minute.  Add 1 c chopped pecans.  Add coconut if desired.
