“Why do women want to dress like men when they’re fortunate enough to be women? Why lose femininty, which is one of our greatest charms? We get more accomplished by being charming than we would be flaunting around in pants and smoking. I’m very fond of men. I think they are wonderful creatures. I love them dearly. But I don’t want to look like one. When women gave up their long skirts, they made a grave error….”

My daughter and I both wore authentic 1860's Civil War Era dresses in a parade. We went the whole nine yards. Hoop skirts, gloves, pretty hats. the effect it had on men was amazing. No matter what the age it seemed to bring out the gentleman in them. I wear pants. I feel like there are times they are more modest for me. But I also love dresses and skirts. I wear them every chance I get. In the summer they are much cooler in our triple digit heat than pants. I love being a woman and consider myself a lady. I wonder sometimes when I see women out and about just what they were thinking when they put on what they have on and left the house!
