OLD PHOTOS

I have been going through old photos that my mom and sister brought with them when they came at Thanksgiving time.  They brought 3 big rubbermaid containers full.  I love history and reading about history and these photos are my history.  My grandparents (mom's parents) have both passed away.  My mom was an only child so we were especially close to her parents as we (my brother and 2 sisters) were their only grandchildren.  My dad's parents are still living but they have 20+ grandchildren and I don't know how many greats.  They are both in fairly good health although we had a scare about 5 or 6 years ago when my grandpa went into heart failure and came very close to dying.  The doctors didn't have much hope.  All of our family was there except 2 grandchildren-- 1 had just had a baby and 1 was in Marines and over seas at the time.   He has recovered and doing well. 

The pictures I am going through are from my mom's side.  I have found pictures that are mid- late 1800's.  This picture is on tin!!!!   I have read about this but have never seen one--it is labeled Grandpa Cooper and Aunt Lena-- I think it is my great, great, great Grandpa. 

 I have found a picture of Aunt Lena and her family but none of Grandpa Cooper & his family.

This is a picture of my Great Grandma Ercil as a young child with her parents, Alva & Edna. 

This was her as an older child and her family........

And here she is married to Howard Lee (Feb 11, 1920)...........

Then came my Grandpa (Robert "Bob" Dean Lee)........our youngest son is named after him Robert Lee Whitehurst-- we call him Lee.....

Here he is married to Eve Billingsley on Feb 24, 1950.........

That is my 1/4 of my history.  I hope I can find some more pictures of the other 3/4ths!  I want to leave this to my children to enjoy!

Lee's cub scout group is coming tonight to see the goats, rabbits and chickens.  William is going to milk Goldie while they are here because I am sure most of these children have not seen a goat milked.  We are baking cookies to give as a snack along with a glass of goats milk.  I need to go finish the cookies and getting prepared for them.

MONDAYS!

MONDAYS ARE A BLESSING TO ME BECAUSE I WORK ON THE WEEKENDS! 

BUT THIS MORNING WE WOKE UP TO A REFRIGERATOR THAT HAD DECIDED TO STOP WORKING!  WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY TO START A WEEK.  THE KIDS AND I PUT EVERYTHING WE COULD SAVE INTO THE FRIDGE IN THE GARAGE AND I CALLED MY DH WITH THE NEWS.  ONE THING ABOUT HIM THAT I TRULY ADMIRE IS HE DOESN'T GET TOTALLY STRESSED OUT ABOUT THINGS LIKE THIS-- HIS COMMENT "I WILL SEE ABOUT IT WHEN I GET HOME". 

WHEN HE ARRIVED HOME THIS EVENING HE ALREADY HAD IT WORKED OUT.  A GOOD FRIEND OF OURS HAPPENED TO HAVE 3 USED REFRIGERATORS SITTING IN HIS GARAGE-- HE DELIVERED ONE TO US AND WE HAVE BEEN SCUBBING IT CLEAN.  IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING WELL-- WE WILL LET IT SIT OVERNIGHT BEFORE PUTTING ANYTHING IN IT. 

SOMETIMES I SIT AND THINK ABOUT HOW ALL OF MY FRIENDSHIPS DEVELOPED AND I REALIZE THAT GOD HAS HIS HAND IN ALL THESE FRIENDSHIPS.  WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT KINDS OF FRIENDS WE DEPEND ON-- ONES WE CALL WHEN WE NEED A GOOD CRY, ONE TO LAUGH WITH, ONE TO GET ADVICE FROM AND ONES THAT WILL DROP EVERYTHING AND BE THERE.  BUT OUR ULTIMATE FRIEND IS JESUS!!  WHEN ALL OF OUR EARTHLY FRIENDS FAIL US JESUS IS STILL THERE.

GOD, WHO HAS CALLED YOU INTO FELLOWSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD, IS FAITHFUL.    1ST CORINTHIANS 1:9

I CAN DO THIS!

I HAVE NEVER BEEN MUCH OF A WRITER, BUT I ENCOURAGE MY BOYS TO WRITE ALL THE TIME IN OUR HOMESCHOOLING.  SO...... I AM GOING TO SET A GOOD EXAMPLE AND START THIS BLOG.

LET ME INTRODUCE US:  MY HUSBAND, TAFT, & I HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 16 YEARS-- I GUESS IT WILL SOON BE 17 YEARS.  WE HAVE 3 BOYS:  WILLIAM 15 (16 IN APRIL), ADAM 14 AND LEE 8.  WE LIVE IN NC WHICH IS WHERE MY HUSBAND GREW UP.  I AM A NATIVE IOWAN.  THERE ARE THINGS I MISS ABOUT IOWA-- MAINLY MY FAMILY-- BUT WHEN I TALKED TO MY SISTER THE OTHER DAY AND THEY WERE UNDER 'BLIZZARD CONDITIONS'  I REMEMBER WHY I LIKE LIVING IN NC.  WE HAVE BEEN HAVING SOME NICE WEATHER-- 50-60 DEGREES. 

WE LIVE IN THE COUNTRY AND ARE CURRENTLY LEARNING TO RAISE NUBIAN & BOER GOATS.  WE HAVE 1 NUBAIN- GOLDIE- SHE JUST GAVE BIRTH TO TWINS - SUGAR & SPICE-  2 WEEKS AGO.  WE HAVE 2 NUBIAN / BOER MIXED -- SPECKLES & DAISY.  WILLIAM JUST BOUGHT A NUBIAN BUCKLING THIS WEEK WITH HIS WINNINGS FROM STATE 4-H PRESENTATIONS.  HE WANTS TO START BREEDING NUBIANS.  LEE IS PLANNING TO SHOW ONE OF THE KIDS AT THE 4-H CLOVERBUD SHOW IN APRIL.  WILLIAM & ADAM JUST GOT LAMBS WEDNESDAY TO SHOW AT THE 4-H LIVESTOCK SHOW & SALE IN APRIL.  WE STAY REAL BUSY THIS TIME OF YEAR.  LEE ALSO HAS 2 BABY RABBITS- SUNNY & PEARL AND WE HAVE A VARIETY OF CHICKENS.  WE HAVE 1 DOG- MISTY AND 3 CATS-- MAX, PANTHER & SMOKEY.  WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE MORE LAND TO RAISE MORE ANIMALS-- MAYBE IN THE FUTURE.

WE ARE IN OUR 3RD YEAR OF HOMESCHOOLING WHICH I AM SO THANKFUL FOR.  GOD OPENED THE DOOR FOR US AFTER MUCH PRAYER-- I HAVE WORKED AS A HOME HEALTH NURSE SINCE 2000 AND IN 2005 A WEEKEND POSITION WAS OFFERED.  MY 1ST CHOICE RIGHT NOW IN MY LIFE WOULD BE NOT TO HAVE TO WORK BUT SINCE THAT IS NOT AN OPTION I AM STILL DOING SOMETHING I TRULY ENJOY. 

GOD TRULY IS AN AWESOME GOD-- WHO TAKES CARE OF ALL HIS CHILDREN.
