The Gift Exchange

I just wanted to relay a story and brag on one of my daughters. This past Saturday, our children's group (12 and under) at church had a Christmas party. We went skating and the kids had a gift exchange at the end of the night.

When it came time for the gift exchange, the girls exchanged with the girls, and boy with boys. One of the older (spoiled girls) received a nice LED flashlight from another girl and the look of disdain on her face was coupled with some verbal clues that she was not happy with her gift. That coupled with  and the look of embarrassment on the giver broke my heart.

My daughter, who received makeup as a gift, gladly volunteered to switch with this other girl. She said, "Christmas is about giving, anyway. That's what Jesus did."

Later, I found out that my daughter's actions made the giver of the light happy because "someone really wanted it (her gift)".

I told my daughter that I was proud of her for her actions. She really is growing into a fine lady.

That is precious and a good reminder to all of us that it is more blessed to give than to receive. I know this will be a cherished memory for you.
