It's hard to believe another year has passed. I must say that I am very glad to see 2009 go. This year was full of hardships and growing and joy and sadness.
I try throughout the year to keep an account of happenings which is sorta easy to do with my blog, Twitter and Facebook.
Here is a little look at SuperAngel's 2009 Year in Review:
Ecclesiastes 3:11
“He has made everything suited to its time; also, he has given human beings an awareness of eternity; but in such a way that they can’t fully comprehend, from beginning to end, the things God does. ”
I really am looking forward to where God leads me this year and what he teaches me. I look forward to the good and bad of 2010.
This past week has been extremely hard for me. I lost my Great Grandpa, who I was very very close to. I can honestly say that he was THE best grandpa I've ever had. I am so thankful for the last 5 years of being able to grow closer to him, of course, it wasn't as long as I wanted, but I am very glad I had them. It was wonderful! It was wonderful to grow as close to him as I did.
Over the past 5 years, he really opened up to me about his WWII experiences which he hadn't shared them at all before. When I presented him the Armed Service album I made for him at his 65th anniversary, he was moved to tears. I knew that all the efforts and the sleepless night I spent on it was so worth it! Getting to know him was truly a blessing to me. I pray it was to him also. Since I did that for him and grew closer to him through it, I have a very important place in my heart for the armed service men. When we took him to the cemetery, they gave him a beautiful military salute with Taps and a 21 Gun Salute. I bawled through the whole thing. Knowing that his service was important to him, and that was so very important to me because of him. It was very hard to sit through for me.
Sitting in his funeral service remembering all the times we had together, the tears just flowed. We would color when I was younger and as I grew up, we would sit on his front porch and play cards. He taught me to play rummy, war, slap jack, and more. One of the last times he played cards he was 87 and got down on the floor with the Littles to play go fish with them. It wasn't easy for him to crawl on the floor but he showed his love to his family by doing it. He truly was a family man. That was all he was worried about: his family. He made it known that his family was all that was important to him.
I truly miss him. I miss his hugs. I miss his smile. I miss his playing cards. I now found myself crying when I pray because he is no longer on my list and it reminds me he is gone. I just miss him! But he lived a full and meaningful life. A life devoted to his family. I praise God that Grandpa knew our Savior and that I have the hope to once again see him on Resurrection Day. It hurts and its hard to have to wait for that day, but I know that the day is drawing close. OH, what a glorious day that will be!
Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death forever. Adonai ELOHIM will wipe away the tears from every face, and he will remove from all the earth the disgrace his people suffer. For ADONAI has spoken.
Revelation 21 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will no longer be any death; and there will no longer be any mourning, crying or pain; because the old order has passed away."
I wanted to be a nurse... be careful what you say... God has a sense of humor. :) If you know me, you know I. do. not. like. goats! period! I never have. They kinda creep me out. But like I said... I always wanted to be a nurse... and now I'm a goat nurse. I've mastered giving goats shots... like with needles. :O Done it so much that I could walk you through giving one, actually here... I'll just show you.
That shot was 10cc of C&D Antitoxin of Equine Origin meaning you don't WANT to know what its made of... but it smells nasty and it lingers! bleh!
I remember the first shot I gave. It was about 2 years ago to one of the older goats and it was a 6cc shot of penicillin. I had read up on how to give the shot, but was so worried I would hurt the goat when I did it. It wasn't too bad tho. Since giving that particular goat a shot, I've given a lot more shots and she was definitely easier than some of the other goats I've shot up. :P
Here I sit doing nothing in particular, (weird, huh?) on this Labor Day. I've never actually understood the concept of Labor Day. You'd think that Labor Day would be the day we all labor on which would be nice since it would leave us with 364 days of no labor, right? :P Yeah, I know... I'm a dreamer. Anyway, here I sit not laboring, looking for something on Vostro and came the the folder dubbed, "Construction" which has all the pictures of all the work we did in May and June trying to finish the addition. As I was looking through the pictures I remembered I never showed y'all the doors I labored on even tho I Facebooked and Twittered about them ALL THE TIME! So what a perfect post for this Labor Day, right? Well I think so... so here they are :)
I had 4 doors that looked like this:
that went from that to this:
to this:
I stained them first and was going to do another coat of stain, but didn't need to since they were darker than we really wanted. So I stained once, but put 2 coats of polyurethane on all four doors. It doesn't sound like much, but it was a took me about a week for all four of them to be complete. Plus it was kinda confusing because you had to let the coats dry completely before adding another and sometimes I forgot which doors I did and which I didn't. :P
I also had to do all the frames around the doors:
And since those were already up, it was tedious standing there and staining/polyurethaning them. But they got done and they turned out wonderful! :D
Now... those doors were the easy part! I also had a set plus one of French doors with 15 window panes ON. EACH. SIDE. which equals to 75 window panes to stain! WHEW! talk about tedious! Word to the wise... Don't buy french doors! :P
So this what they looked like in the beginning:
I ended up staining these twice because the wood was different than the other doors and took the stain differently so I technically stained 150 window panes! :O
After I stained them twice, I added two coats of polyurethane... which is another 150. LOL! very tedious, but the end result is worth it:
