Feelin' Guilty

Posted in Learning About My Girls

I have been feeling kinda guilty about the Girls. We have been watching old western tv shows lately because the Littles love them. Dad bought them a 4 disc dvd set of a bunch of western shows, like The Lone Ranger, Range Rider, The Roy Rogers Show, Cisco Kid and a few more. The Range Rider is my favorite! :D
We have also been watching many old movies too. I was feeling guilty because in every one of these shows and movies, they characters are riding horses. Their horses are everything. Now, I know that it was back when we didn't have cars, planes, and trains... computers, blogs, and things.
The thing that gets me is I have 2 perfectly healthy and fit fillies just standing in my barn. I feel bad that I can't train them and give them a better life. They really are good girls...but then again, I have Dulcy who bites me the first time I go to the barn in like 4 days. ugh...
I really do love horses. I don't mind cleaning out stalls, watering, feeding, grooming and caring for them. I really like the work... keeps me fit too! ;)
I really like our Girls. I really don't like doing all that stuff when I can't enjoy them. When I can't do anything with them. Right now we are just feeding them and paying a lot of money for them. They are going to be great horses when they are older and trained.
I finally have some good news about them. They will be gone soon.
Back in September, I had 2 people interested in Dulcy. One fell through and the other I lost the phone # for. By the time I found the #, the lady had already bought another horse. :(
I kept in touch with her through the months because she really did like Dulcy. Well I saw her before christmas and she told me to contact her after the new year. Well... I didn't want to bug her to buy my horses, so I just didn't call her.
Well last week, I bit the bullet and decided to call her one last time to see if she was still interested. If she wasn't, I wasn't going to bug her anymore. I called and she was very interested still. We talked for a little while and came to the conclusion that she really did want Dulcy. YAY! PRAISE GOD!
She came over yesterday. She decided she would buy Estrella AND Dulcy! I am so happy! She is coming over on Monday to put some money down on them, and then a week later, she will get them and take them to her home!
I know this is a great situation! She is really nice and totally loves horses. She knows what she is doing and they will definitely be taken care of and will be trained!
As much as I like the Girls, I know this is best for them. Not to mention if we do actually move in the next year or so, we wouldn't be taking them with us across the country. So happening is good.  She even told me that when they are trained if by the summer, I would be able to come over and ride them and spend time with them.
Thank you all for your prayers on the matter. I really appreciate it!
This whole situation has been a learning experience with just the horses. I have learned many things and I am thankful for God allowing me to have them. Everything happens in His time and I am content in that!
Be Blessed!!
As Always,

I am glad things worked out for you and the girls. I know I hate seeing dogs on chains and in cages. They are so much better off if they can run around and be happy. I guess it's the same for any animal, they should have good lives. ..........Kitty

Thanks for stopping by my blog and letting me know that you have sold your horses. I'm so happy for you~ even though it's bittersweet, it sounds like it's for the best. You might ask her when she comes if she'd like to buy a van as well (ours still hasn't sold, though we did have a couple stop and look at it today, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed).

I love lasagna too. I don't make my regular lasagna with velveeta but I do put it in the crock pot recipe. It makes it creamier and it's very yummy! It makes a really big batch~ so you should make it for your family sometime! (wink!)

Hugs,
Mrs. Strawser

I'll admit it... I am going to miss them. But you already know that! Even though Estrella tried to kill me and Dulcy hates me, well, I am going to cry. and I know when I am in the barn more in the next month, I am going to bawl and miss them.

It will be nice to move somewhere else and get some horses that are already broke or ones we can at least train as they grow in stead of getting horses that weren't trained well.
I am happy for them that she is taking them. She definitely will take great care of them, and thye will get to be around other horses.
Don't feel guilty, but don't lose that tender spot for your siblings who love horses too....

Are you sure you don't want to move to TX?? Land of the (horse-riding) cowboy??? I guess we can ride them in NM or AZ too, huh?

Well, I am looking forward to it! and mucking out the stalls really is good for you. I'll help next time... :))

Love you my dear daughter! I really do.
Can you believe you are going to be graduating --- soon? Where did all that time go?

(((((HUGS)))))
Love, Mom

Glad you worked out the horse situation. I'm feeling guilty about my guys too. When its warm I spend a lot of time with them but I'm such a wimp with the cold weather (I'm from FL) so I rush down to feed and rush back in the house or send one of the boys down. Poor babies. I'll make it up in the spring.

Sweetie, I love reading your blog but I would like to offer one tiny word of advice--its hard to read yellow on blue. Can the colors behind main text be changed? I copy and paste text into a notepad to read (I have old eyes). Just my 2 cents.

Thanks,

I really enjoyed reading your blog! It sounds like the girls will have a wonderful home. So nice of the new owner to invite you to come ride!

Early Congratulations and Happy Graduation! My DD is a 2005 Homeschool graduate. It was the largest homeschool graduation class our group had ever had...5 graduates! It was great!

You sound like a very smart young lady with a great head on her shoulders! I'm going to keep checking back here. Thank you for letting the Carnival link you and for letting us visit with you!

In Him,
