The Homesteading Carnival #21: A Little Bit of Everything Edition
Thank you for coming to The Homesteading Carnival #21: A Little Bit of Everything Edition
I couldn't think of what type of an edition I wanted this week to be. I thought about doing a Birthday one since my 18th birthday is Friday, but I just couldn't fit it in. Now I am no wonderful authoress like Jocelyn who lead you on a neat little walk last week, so this week I have a little bit of everything for you to enjoy!!
I love being healthy. I feel so much better when we eat good, wholesome food. Here are some posts about wanting the best for your homestead:
Here is a question for you: "Margarine vs. Butter- Which is Healthier??" Naturalmama asks and explains why which is better than the other. My family eats butter. We read an article once that said that if you leave margarine out for days, it won't change. Its just like plastic. The container it is in will deteriorate before the actual margarine will.
Jasmine of Ponder the Path has some "Canning Basics - Baby Steps" for us. She shares about her canning experiences this year. She is also having a contest. You have to guess her exciting news she found out. What could it be??
Rashel of ... Homestead Refuge... has a question for you too, "Are you a sugar addict?" She was starting to have symptoms of having reactive hypoglycemia and decided to do some research. You will be amazed at the wealth of knowledge she found while she was find out how bad sugar is for you.
Christina of The Perils of Parenting and Other Ponderings has a "Green Drink and Other Stuff" that helped her daughter get a little more nourishment.
Jocelyn of Amusing Reflections of A Country Girl has "Some Interesting Facts" that you are sure to want to take a gaze at. You will be surprised at all the everyday products you use that you can use for something you didn't even know about!!
Marilyn Moll, theUrbanhomemaker had a "Applesauce Making Marathon" complete with pictures, so you can see the fruits of her work!!
I just love babies. I think it is just an oldest child and girl thing to love babies. Here are some baby posts for you to check out:
With new little Elijah, who has finally come HOME!! Ashley of Adventures of a Country Girl in the City is having some sweet "Mommy Thoughts".
Mrs. Stephen Rella of How I Love Thee did a very nice "Cloth Diaper Chat and Share". She lists some different types of cloth diapers you can use. She sure did her research.
Starfish Mama of Starfish Dreams has an "Emergency Childbirth How To's" for you. She has a very informative post about what to do, what you need and anything else that will help you in case you have an emergency birth.
Everyone needs prayer. No matter what. I love being able to pray for my friends. Here are some prayer requests from fellow bloggers:
Amy of SimpleFolk hasn't been able to blog much due to the virus that has plagued their house. Let's pray for a quick recovery for them. Meanwhile you can read about some of her "My Monday, My Projects..." that she wanted to complete last week.
Also, Page, who is Desiring A Simple Life feels like "This has been a long few days" for her. She has been sick. Let's raise her up in prayers. Speaking of prayers, Page has started a "My Prayer Basket" where she lists prayer requests and has specific days on which she prays for each of them.
I read this really awesome post and I just had to share it with you. It is the cry of my heart for this question to be answered. Lord come quickly!!
Kerimae of A Happy Home wants to know "Where are you, Josiah?" I want to know too. This is a call for the righteous to rise up and be who they are supposed to. I pray that our 'Josiah' will come soon!!
It seems homeschooling is a BIG part of homesteading. I am happy to be homeschooled, so I don't have to go to school on my birthday!! YAY!! Here are some great homestead homeschool ideas for your homeschooling homestead:
Jacque, who is Seeking Rest on the Homestead shows us their "Summer Homeschool - Gardening, A Photo Essay" She sure did an awesome job on their garden this year. Makes me tired just looking at all the hard work they did. Can you believe she loaded all those pictures on dial up too?? Well you won't believe what great blessing she got out of this post, besides all the wonderful veggies of having a green thumb!! This is a must see post!!
Nancy, The Unlikely Homesteader asks if you "Want to know more about chickens?" Her son has done a really awesome project on all that you need to know about raising chickens.
AmyBeth of My Smoky Mountain Homeschool has a wonderful fall unit study for you to work on, "Life Cycle of Pumpkin" She never knew how much about pumpkins she didn't know.
Every homeschool loves free supplies, right?? Well, Denise of Our Oasis in the Desert has a "Colonial Crafts Book FREE Giveaway" for your homeschool.
Chas of My Cup Runneth Over has had "A Day of Nature" where they all went out to the great outdoors and had a nature journaling time. They did a very nice job on their drawings too!!
For all you raw milk drinkers, you should know about "The Future of Raw Milk in Georgia". I have a feeling that it will soon spread through all of the states. Why can't they just let us live in peace??
We had some storms this last week, and before they hit I was looking out the window and saw a really neat picture. The clouds were starting to cover up the sun as it was setting and they were a dark gray. It was neat because off to the side I saw what looked to be an old man's face in the clouds. I am not one for the beauty of scenery, but man, I absolutely was taken with this. It was so neat to see the clouds covering the setting sun before the storm.
Eric of The Voice of Experience had a "really neat experience" when he went outside at his house too. It showed him that God is awesome and everything is His creation. And it is lovely!!
CarolinaWren of A Mom's Musings shares a "Double Rainbow" that appeared after their storms.
And now I want to let everyone know that my very sweet friend, Julia had a birthday on the 18th!! She is 11 and is becoming quite a lady!! She is going to be a great big sister to Sus who is due in Dec. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JULIA!!
Thanks so much for coming by!! I had a really nice time looking at everyone's posts. Page will be hosting next week's carnival. So get those submissions in!! Email them to us!!
As Always,
!! !!
