Lookie, What I Can Do!!

I made this bag last summer. I love it!! It wasn't that hard to make either and I think I am going to make another one with some different material.

Ok so here is what I did-

I used this material:

The SUPERMAN logo and SUPERMAN flying I used for the outside sides.

Then I had SUPERMAN & Earth for the inside of the sides.

I took the logo and the SUPERMAN & Earth and sewed some batting in between them, so I had a panel for the side.

I did the same thing with the flying.

Then I took and quilted the logo and some of SUPERMAN flying’s body and the outline of the square. I did this so that there wouldn’t be any space between the two. And it gave it an 3d kinda thing.

I took the edge where I had already sewn the panel together and I sewed another seam as to make it stronger and have a finished edge.

Then I took the SUPERMAN & Earth and made a panel with the batting for the bottom. And sewed that to the panels.

I took some more of the SUPERMAN & Earth and went up the sides to connect the panels also. I did not put batting in this part. It is just fabric. Now  would double this part. Mine has a hole there now, because it wasn't tick enough.

Now with all the pieces you will see that I did another stitch line for finishing and strength.

I couldn’t get a good pic of the seam.

Ok now for the handles. I took the SUPERMAN & Earth and made them as long as I wanted and I put batting in it and sewed it together.

Then I took red handle material, (no idea what the name of it is) and sewed it on the S & E material. I did 3 separate stitched along it. 1 in the middle and 2 on the side.

Then I had this blue and yellow rickrack and sewed them on to the S & E and Red handle. I had to go on it, so that the ends would come up. So I had to go in a zigzag. I did not use the zigzag stitch, I did it by turning it zigzag.

Then I ripped up the stitch, so that I could put the handles in. Put them in the depth of how I wanted it and sewed it back up.

Now the final thing that we did was put the zipper on. We took some more of the S & E material and sewed our zipper to it.

Then we sewed it to the bag.

So there is my SUPERMAN bag step by step.

And here is the final work

I think I covered everything. If you have any questions about that I didn’t explain let me know!

It only took me 5 days to get it finished. MOM did help me figure out the best way to do somethings and she did the zipper mostly.

Now I need to fix my bag, because last summer I was riding my bike and I had it on me, and I fell and it torn right in the front. So I need to repatch that whole front piece of the Symbol, and also the side I mentioned above.

I will try to have my quilt making post ready for you all shortly. That was so fun to make.

As Always,
