In gravy making... Yeah I have a funny story to tell.
I was making a glorious dinner of Salisbury steaks, with mashed potatoes, green beans, and peas.
I had all the steaks cooked, and veggies done. So I was going to make the gravy for the steaks. OK, I actually do know how to make gravy cause I have done it before, but this time... I don’t know what happened. I had the juice from the steaks in the pan boiling, then took the cold water and cornstarch and mixed it up good. Then I poured the cornstarch mix in the pan, and stirred. And stirred and stirred and stirred... it wasn’t getting thick. So I made more cornstarch and water and mixed it in the pan. It was still not thickening. SO I made more cornstarch and water mix and put it in. OK... so I am stirring and stirring and am like “I don’t need anymore cornstarch, what is going on??” I am stirring and then I see this huge glob of something. I stir it and the find more and more. I am like, “oh great”, so it is really goopy, and I call The Mom to help me.
So she comes in and is like “what you are doing??” “I’m making gravy” “No you are making hamburger pudding.” “Oh hahaha... not funny.” So anyway after about 15min. Mom finally makes the pudding into gravy. We had plenty of gravy though. No one was lacking in that. Good thing we were having mashed potatoes with it.
So anyway, I am now charged with making gravy the next time we have it, til I do it right. But since I have already made gravy before I am not worried.
So here is the recipes for this dinner:
