Look!

A decent picture with me in it!
Ashley took this with the new camera.
It wasn't on a setting with flash that's why it's kind of dark.
The darkness makes me look better! LOL
My first time using the 'daily journal' - I like this thing
FOR TODAY...Wednesday, Jan 7, 2009
Outside my window...very 'puddly' with the sun trying to peek through the clouds! The temp has dropped and the rain may have stopped.
I am thinking... that I don't need to get overwhelmed with my 'to-do' list. I need to just take it slowly.
I am thankful for...a wonderful husband and three great and loving grown kids!
From the home office...had to change that from the learning room since we are DONE with home school! From the office comes a new set of frugal videos for the youtube channel and working on the free recipes for the newsletter.
From the kitchen...fresh baked whole grain bread, meatloaf and red dill potatoes and tomorrow's left over blender waffles (that's what one of the newest videos is about!)
I am wearing...red turtleneck and white jeans and actually have on make-up!
I am creating...a life!!
I am going....to not go ANYWHERE if I can help it!
I am reading...Bible and 'The flavor bible'
I am hoping...that the leak in our dining room foundation is not a sign that there is trouble through out the house's plumbing
I am hearing...our black lab barking at the UPS guy.
Around the house...there are towels on the floor and carpet rolled up in the center of a room, the rest is trying to stay in order while the dining room is in the foyer now!
One of my favorite things...Seista Key, FL!
Food stretching videos on a rainy day...
Today I made yet another video on stretching food dollars and using left-overs, also one on storing dairy when it goes on sale and announced my 'Bloopers' incentive for my youtube channel. All of them should be up on the channel in the next week or so...for now there are 25 videos on using whole grains and stretching the grocery budget! I try to add one video to it each week.
It really is a blessing and a joy to see that some of the wierdo things that I do are 'new' to others! If it can help a family in the lean times, then I've been obedient to what God has laid upon my heart.
Hopefully the channel will also inspire the younger generation of ladies and new wives/mothers to learn the art of stretching the grocery budget and see how VERY VALUED that roll is for her home and her husband.
If you get the chance - please stop by and visit! I'd love to hear from some fellow homesteaders from this board!
Best Blessings!

2009!?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Nothing To Do in Winter
Hello again! I haven't blogged lately because my son and family have been visiting from California. We had a late Christmas on Jan 1 having delayed it till my son in law could be home on his days off. We did have Christmas dinner on Dec. 26 once my son and family had arrived but then finished Christmas off with the present opening on Jan 1. So we have been busy. although when I try to think what we all did I can't think of anything but play, cook, bake, relax, eat, play some more, ride the tractor when it was warm enough, look at the chickens, jump on the trampoline or what's left of it, talk etc etc.....
Around here in central Illinois nothing is open after Christmas. Even the reindeer place closes down. But we did find someplace to go with an indoor playland so the adults and kids could get out for awhile.
MCDONALD'S!!!!!!!!!! Not the healthiest of foods but indoors with a playland and open.
My son and granddaughter A with granddaughter Princess C lookin on.

Links about the new law going into effect-2-10-09
I forgot to add links about the new law that I mentioned in my last post. I'm amazed at how many people who have not heard about this. It passed, I believe sometime in August of '08, but most everybody is just now really hearing about it, including me. It's like they kept it hush-hush until they had to tell everyone.
I'm sharing various links from information to different peoples perspective on the subject.

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
I hope you have enjoyed reading the thoughts and happenings of a fifteen-year-old girl from the country. “You can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens you!” Philippians 4:13
Chinook Wind
It's unbelievable! One moment it's snowing like crazy and 20 degrees and suddenly the wind is blowing in warm air and it's pouring rain! We had a high of 50 degrees yesterday, but mostly it's been about 40 all night with a constant rain. All our piles of snow are quickly melting away. Steve spent a few hours shoveling snow off the garage roof yesterday and now there is literally nothing on our driveway.
The puppies won't stay in their box! We keep finding them on the carpet. Tank goes home today or tomorrow so hopefully we can set up a different arrangement in the laundry room soon.
Steve is gone to work for the first time in about 3 months. Yeah! He is doing a couple shifts for Favorites in Omak so the girls and I are car-less while he is away for a couple of days. He went for an interview for the Resource Team position but ended up turning it down because of the hours. He really, really wants to go to the college and finish up the two classes he needs to have his BSN. He only needs two humanities classes. Unfortunately when he went to sign up for the Spanish class Monday they were already full and closed. He has been filling out job applications. Not sure what he will end up with.
Choir starts up today. I have been trying to get all my thoughts organized and have the music ready. We have a real opportunity coming up. All the ministers of all the denominations in the Valley meet together occasionaly and they often have a little program. It looks like we will be putting on their program in February. I am doing a lot of thinking and praying and reading and trying to write the ouline of the script. Things will be a little different in choir. Some of the boys have grown up to the point that they can decide whether or not they will be in choir... and well, choir is not necessarily a passionate pursuit for some as it is for others. Also, Cherub choir has been a real struggle for the leaders and moms and so without further ado we have let it go for the time being and I am allowing a few exceptional 6 year olds to join the big kids. Echoes of Heaven, our girl's group of 6 has been expanded to include a boy with talent and a new gal and now numbers 8. We look forward to great things for choir in 2009.
For those of you who have been praying for Sarah - the 16 year old flute player with acute leukemia; Sarah has had a close brush with death but while she is still in ICU and a very, very sick girl, she is off the ventilator and the ng tube. Keep praying for her. She has a long road ahead!
Rats!! We missed writing class and grammar class yesterday. We didn't know it had started already. Somehow we are out of the loop... (can't be 'cause we've been gone for 2 months can it?). Anyway, many tears have been shed (are being shed...) about that. Imagine!! Crying because you missed writing class!!! Must be good, eh!
I love my scale....today!
I have finally broke 150lbs!!!!!!
I'm not "suppose" to weight myself but once a week & that usually occurs on Saturday morning but I have an overwhelming urge to hop on it before then. As is the case this morning. I didn't want to get on b/c I was afraid it would say the same ol' same ol' but it finally told me what I have been working my butt off (literally!) to read.....149.6 lbs!!!
I'm on my way!
My plan?
Eat half as much as I usually eat & exercise more.
Pretty simple? Yes & no.
It's kind of hard to know when to quit eating. I've been so used to stuffing myself until I KNOW that I'm full but now I have to learn how to eat until I'm satisfied. That's hard! But I'm in it for the long haul. I've come too far to quit now.
So as of today I have lost 11 inches & 3 lbs.
135 lbs here I come! That would be a dream come true!
