New Year Intentions

The biggest goal here for us at Sisyphus this year is to become more natural and purposeful in our living.  We are transitioning to an all-natural diet, more organic, and growing our own foods.  I have recently been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome, and with a suspected allergy to food preservatives, and so have to make some big changes in my diet, to be healthier, to live longer and feel better.  The change has made us very conscious of all the junk that is put in our food, all the processing.  But the change has been relatively painless, both in choosing foods, and in cost.  I was surprised that the change did not severely impact my grocery bill ~ for the most part, there are preservative options out there for most everything.  I also have to exclude trans fats, and aspartame and saccharin.

I have been cooking and baking a lot more from scratch, and Hannah has been helping a lot ~ learning recipes and cooking skills to last a lifetime.  As a matter of fact, she baked blackmoons from scratch this weekend.  We are going to be getting a bread machine so we can make healthy, wholesome bread at home.  I am scrapbooking family recipes for Hannah, and now as we cook, she tell me ones she wwants to make certain are in her book.

In addition we are reducing the amount of paper waste we generate, increasing the amount we compost, using less energy, and reaching out to our community, enriching lives in the process.

So this year, with the LordÂ’s blessing, we will become more natural, more Godly, more healthy, more purposeful, more loving, more simple and happier in the process.
