Made my first homemade bread!

I bought a bread machine this week, and today I put my first loaf of bread in to bake (from a mix).  It came out wonderful!  I am going to our local grain mill this week to buy stone ground organic flour and corn meal so I can try Anadama bread next!  It was so amazing, this natural whole wheat bread didn't spike my sugar at all!  It is amazing what non-processed foods do for your body!

Last night Hannah and I scrapbooked, got 3 more pages done in her heritage recipe book.  It is such a rewarding project to be working on.  Hannah made two pages in her scrapbook too.  We spent 2-3 hours working on them together.  I love that time we share.

Right now Hannah is making me a knitted hat on her knitting rings to match the crocheted scarf I made...she loves the rings and loves to make stuff with them ~ one of the best presents she's ever gotten, she's already made soooo much stuff with them!.

We planted onion seed this week (march 1st) in flats, they are beginning to sprout already ~ way cool!  We planted 72 peat pots with onions, and will pick up a bag of "sets" also to put in when the soil is ready ~ never can have too many onions...LOL.  Next to plant are cabbage and brussell sprouts, on the 15th.

Of course, now that the planting has begun, we got REAL snow today.  We haven't had snow at all this winter, very little by our standards, and all of a sudden today we were expecting "mountain flurries", 2-4 inches  expected ~ we have well over a foot now   Was a nice day for baking the bread, with the snow falling and the wind howling around.

Tonight I laid the foundation for a crazy quilt square ~ it is my first time crazy quilting, got all the fabrics laid on to an old hanky ~ now need to add the ribbons/embroidery to cover the seams, and then, maybe some buttons and bead work ~ who knows ~ will take me a bit to finish I suspect, but it was fun to play with.  If I like it I may make more, have plenty of plain white hankies for foundations.

Have another quilt square swap to get ready for, this round's theme is spring, thinking of what pattern to make, and need to look for fabrics for it, my stash is getting a little low.  My squares from this swap should be in my PO Box Monday, I can't wait, it is always so exciting to see what has come!

Need to do a little picking up and some laundry, will probably do the picking up right after this post ~ may run the wash tomorrow but wait to fold until Monday (I try to keep Sabbath as much as possible).  Will probably send time tomorrow sewing and playing with Hannah.

Hannah spent a lot of time today sewing little creatures ~ she is practicing her hand sewing and making little stuffies with scrap fabric and socks and the like.  She has quite an imagination, they are all crazy looking, but her sewing is definitely improving.  Maybe I'll re-belt the treadle tomorrow and play with that...hmmmm...that is one of the last "projects" on my winter list...that and painting the stairwell, but that has to wait until we can get the outside ladder in, so after the thaw...

Had planned to clear brush today, but the snow put a cabash on that...

Need to finish reading Walden this weekend...borrowed the book from a friend and need to get it back ~ the book is killing me, but ti was the only book I didn't read in High School, and I've always wanted to read it ~ though I know now why I never read it then ~ Thoreau goes all over the place, the whole thing is written in very flowery language, and he writes in stream of consciousness, the story goes all over and it is very tedious to follow.

Hannah and I watched Veggietales "Minnesota Cuke" together tonight,  I love our time together ~ she is growing up so fast, it is all slipping away so fast.

Well, I ought to get  picking up, come visit again soon, God Bless,

Valarie
