CPR, First Aid, and laundry? What?

Gotta love life on the homestead, if anyone ever says it's boring, they have no idea what we all do in a day.  As you know, being a single mom, I work out of the home right now ~ I have an incredible job that allows me to keep God and my home/Hannah ahead of work.  It is a very Christian office, and the job is truly a blessing.  I love my job, I get to do good work, and am able to be a mom to Hannah first, and not leave that job to someone else.

Another benefit are the "trainings" I have access to ~ I have just been certified in CPR and First Aid this past week.  Taken classes on "dealing with difficult people", and loads of others that help life daily, and prepare me in ways I can't imagine.  Another stewardship principle, using the gifts we've been given and seeking to be prepared.

CPR and first aid are pretty crucial skills when you live a distance away from Hospitals or easy medical access, or in a place where help may not be able to reach you.  I do urge everyone to explore this ~ many places sponsor free classes, or very low fee classes...the knowledge is invaluable...knowing what to do and how to do it correctly in case of emergency...well, it could be the difference between life and death.

The weekend was pretty tame, wasn't feeling up to much...did laundry, cleaned house, sat with Hannah to finally reign in her room, and practiced bellydancing.  Tomorrow night is our next class, as long as the storm tracks south as expected.

I did pick out material for the quilt squares, and decided on a pattern, washed to material, and will probably get to it next week.  Hanah's bday party is Saturday, and she is having 10 people over to have a Mardi Gras festival (early I know).  I am going to use my Betty Crocker Bake and Fill to make an ice cream "king Cake".  They want to hang around and dance ~ should be a fun time.

Reveiwed the seed order and it is ready to go, that'll take care of the fruits and veggies.  I'll post a full listing of what we intend to grow this year.  We expanded the plot, it's about 50 feet by 90 feet, so we should have a good amount to put up this year.  I have the "wish list" for the beginning of the herb garden too ~ it will be a 12 x 12 plot, designed as a Jerusalem Cross, the plan being, there will be stones in that design, with 8 1-foot planting squares.  Got the idea from my Indian heritage ~ many indian tribes planted healing herbs in a Medicine wheel design ~ and I wanted to incorporate that idea with a quiet place to pray and meditate on God's healing and blessings of fruitful bounty.  The Jerusalem Cross design embodies the radiating design of the wheel, while firmly planted in Faith.  I hope to make a log bench for the center, to sit and pray.

We've had an extremely mild winter this year, I hope that doesn't hurt the perennials too badly ~ I would like to get a decent batch of asparagus and garlic this year.

Goodnight all, off to my bible reading,

Val

Val - your garden sounds wonderful!! Love the design ideas.
I am also a single Mom and am praying for something that I could do from home - I have worked outside the home all my life - I have a 14yo dd at home and would love to spend the remainder of her time at home with her.
Blessings to you and your endeavors.
Donna
