101 Things to do in 1000 days
- Install a windmill to generate power for the homestead (Might as well start big ;-)
- …Or maybe solar…
- …first I’d probably fully research which alternative source would be practical in my area…
- …and then consider an alternate heat source (aside from the generator)
- Enlarge garden to feed the four of us
- Enlarge the fruit “orchards”
- Get or make a dehydrator
- Get a pressure canner to be able to can more
- Make a solar oven
- Buy Syrup buckets and taps
- Get belt on treadle for non-electric sewing
- When I need a new car, to get a hybrid or alt. Energy vehicle, or really efficient one
- Find the money to do this, since my car is starting to fade out
- To get closer to the 3R’s, reduce, reuse, recycle (or do without)
- To eat totally organically
- To eat locally 80% of the time
- Make Birch rootbeer
- Learn to make wine
- Move to use natural sweeteners only
- Finish teaching Hannah how to cook
- Learn to make cheese and yogurt
- “buy in” to a pig and cow
- get a pig or a goat
- sell homemade teas
- learn how to crochet mittens
- learn how to crochet granny squares
- make afghan for my bed
- make afghan for Hannah’s hope chest
- Help Hannah make her quilt for her bed
- Make Window Quilts
- make soap with Hannah
- make a table runner for the dining room table
- Make more cloth napkins
- finish cross stitch quilt
- Finish inside painting (Stairwell and 2 bathrooms)
- Hang Family pics in “Rogues Gallery”
- Paint outside of the house
- Be consistent with Family Nite
- Finish Hannah’s recipe scrapbook
- Plan scrapbook nites together
- Institute morning prayer B4 our goodbyes
- Fill Hannah’s hopechest
- Give Hannah wings and teach her to fly
- Hike Cannon Mt.
- Snowshoe Pondicherry
- Sleep more
- Pray more consistently
- Daily Bible Reading ~ stop slipping
- Get a swim membership
- Practice bellydancing more regularly
- maintain and improve control of my diabetes
- Meet Lynne and Dee in person
- Meet Anne in person
- Make indoor clothesline
- Make all of our food from scratch
- Vacation with my sister’s family
- Go back to Texas to visit Sherri
- Get my master gardener’s certificate
- experiment with new growing techniques
- try new heirloom plants
- Save seeds
- Build a root cellar
- Work from home (this will be a tough goal to meet)
- or at least work part-time from home
- Find a used spinning wheel for Hannah
- Find a source of Alpaca fleece/roving for Hannah
- Or maybe get a couple of alpaca?
- Lose 15-20 lbs per year
- Grow my youth group each year
- Get married
- ok, ok…at least get a date
- alright! At least meet some new people!
- Go to Amish country
- make beef jerky
- make homemade fruit roll ups
- Hand off Historical Society duties
- Utilize the town library more
- Explore sustainability classes through the Cooperative extension
- Begin to write again
- Write with a purpose
- and publish something worthwhile
- start wearing more dresses and skirts
- Take better care of my skin
- grow my hair out long
- build a fire pit/stone stove out in the yard
- Grow grains
- or find a local source for grain
- grind my own flours
- Try goat’s milk
- and goat’s milk cheese (goat milk fudge is YUMMY!)
- Increase my knowledge of herbs
- Use herbs to manage my health/diabetes
- Encourage hannah’s desire to be close to God’s earth/bounty
- Encourage Hannah to won her generation for Christ
- Build a community agriculture co-op in Jefferson, NH
- and building it into a regional Co-op
- Take herbal medicine classes
- Live like every day is my last
- Love with total and complete abandon
- Laugh like there is no tomorrow
101. Start over again with a new list when this list (or time) is up!
