Herb Garden News

Ahhh…the planting of my herb garden is going well, I am making it both a “food” garden as well as a medicinal garden.  I purchased the last of my mints today for tea ~ I already have peppermint, and today I found spearmint and chocolate  mint.  I need to find some lemon balm, echinacea and wintergreen, but no luck so far.  I have just ordered “God’s Healing Herbs” as a birthday present to me.  Birthday is today, and though I have a good herbal encyclopedia, I need a bit more help in the medicinal usage of herbs.

I bought some sage for the veggie garden, to help protect my broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower from the cabbage moth.  We’ll see how that works.

With the sun finally peeking out, I have a bit of planting and weeding to work on tonight.  Hopefully Hannah is in the mood to work in the herb garden tonight…lol…cuz we’ve got some work to do!

With the exception of the cilantro, thouhg, the herbs already in the ground are doing very well.  And with the new mints…mmmm…I smell many new varieties of winter teas ~ and some yummy medicinal teas too!

There is a CHOCOLATE MINT?

Oh my goodness - HOW did I ever miss that!! We have peppermint, spearmint, echinacia, and chamomile, and even lemon balm. Wintergreen is a bust here too - I've never even seen it. But I never even knew there was a chocolate mint plant. How's it taste? What's it look like? Could you post pictures when yours grows?

Your garden sounds great Val.
I have an extensive collection of herb books, but I've never heard of God's Healing Garden, so I went and checked it out on Amazon.com. Looks like a nice one, especially the chapter titled, Jesus and the Herbs. I haven't had a new herb book in a long time, so I'm putting this one on my wish list. :-)

Sounds like you have a WONDERFUL garden! I enjoy reading your blog, I hope to have a garden like yours someday.

If only I could make the plants...GROW!

Val,
I have a tomato plant that has yielded just THREE cherry tomatoes so far! I have repotted it and left it in the sun (as directed) and I just cannot make it grow!
Guess that's perhaps why we don't have a lot of land, lol...
Hope your day is wonderful!
Love,
Lynne

Hi Val,
You'll have to post your knowledge on herbs when you have the time! :)
