Sisyphus Acres

A new Week!

{ 11:39, 2006-May-22 } { Posted in Daily Musings } { 0 comments } { Link }

The weekend was hit or miss weather wise ~ was Ok enough to do some stuff, but not to do everything I'd like to have crammed in...lol.

Hannah and I played Trivial Pursuit Friday night.  I had to work Sat. AM, so I brought Hannah with me ~ it was to promote the volunteer program at a local missions fair.  After the fair, Hannah and I went to visit my friend Tim, to see the new apt. he and his girls moved to, we grabbed dinner at a local pizza place and headed home to play more Trivial Pursuit.

Sunday I needed to sleep ~ slept in just long enough though to miss service :-(  I hate missing church, I really need that weekly fix to help me keep focused.  And then I broke Sabbath ~ when I got up, ran laundry and cleaned my bedroom and bathroom before heading out to "play" in the gardens.  I don't consider the garden work, but I did do housework...

So out to the garden, finished planting the onion row, planted 6 sweet peppers, but the seeds and seedlings have to wait a day or so, cuz the plot was a little to wet to go any further.  So I skipped off into the perennial garden and finished planting all of the new perennials we bought for that are, and planted some of the annuals for the border of the garden.  Put in 6 dusty millers, 3 each of 3 types, 2 balloonn plants, 2 gaillardia, 6 violas, a marigold (leftover from Hannah's project).  Dad also put in the yard, a valiant Grape, my snowball bush (mother's Day present), my mom's bleeding heart (also a MD pres.).

Hannah took all 3 of the terra cotta pots she had planted as MD gifts and moved the flowers to a bigger pot (minus the marigold) ~ and we place the pot in a bricked circle garden rimmed in phlox, so there is a pot planted with 4 different plants, and the phlox completely surrounds the pot ~ it looks so pretty.

Our hummingbird has returned, he is enjoying the pansies and geranium planters ~ we were going to put the feeders out this week, but Mr. bear paid us a visit.  We didn't see him, but he left a "souvenir" for us in the yard...oh yuck!

The wild blueberries are flowering, as are our new blueberries (the early ones), the pear tree is also in flower, but it needs a mate quickly or we have no fruit on it this year ~ methinks the apples will not work to pollinate it.

We are going to have a yard sale this coming weekend to get some of the accumulated clutter out of here ~ hopefully it will be successful!

Well, Off to do some work here at the office,

Val
