Sisyphus Acres

The work begins...

All in all, this was a really good weekend, great weather, and a good time.  Well Sometime Thursday of Friday I planted the new blackberry plant and dad dropped in the 10 balsam firs.  Saturday Hannah had some friends over for the afternoon, while dad and I dropped in the red oaks.  We still have 10 sugar maples to do ~ yikes ~ that was hard work!

Just about ready to do the last cultivation on the garden plot ~ should be dropping seed in next week , and I need to get the onion transplants in too.  Then my mother and I went o a quilt class/show with Patricia knoeckel from Quilt in a day ~ it was great!

Yesterday I hung out some laundry on the line after church, played volleyball and badminton with hannah, and then made pesto chicken, noodles, corn and salad for dinner.

The newly planted rhubarb is sending up stalks, and we have asparagus stalks shooting up as well.  Nothing on the garlic yet.  The mint is coming up fine (no big surprise there), and the seedlings are faring pretty well.  The pumpkins and squash are getting quite fat and ready.  The broccolli, brussels and cabbage are a bit fragile, but shooting up.  The peas are ready for transplant, and the cukes are doing ok (lost a bunch in the wind this weekend though, broke).  The fruit trees are all leafing out, as are the blueberries and the cranberries.  Shortly we will need to buy the tomato, and probably some pepper plants (the pepper seedlings are alive, but not really growing much.

And the onions ~ SheeSh from the gardening class we took at the extension office we got some 300 transplants to put in!  Sooooo, we may be selling some onions this summer…lol!  I have so much that will be going in direct seed ~ hoping to rake the beds in late this week (after the rain), and maybe plant by the weekend.  It is hard to plan, last frost date is around the 8th, so we have to be careful.

Hannah is singing for the school board tonight as part of chorus, so we will be missing archery.  Tomorrow night is an open house and a book fair, then I have a Historical society meeting afterwards.

Hannah planted some pansies in the perennial garden, to help fill up some of the space.  Well, need to get ready to head home from work now, chat later,
