Inspired by a post over at My Smoky Mountain Homestead. I thought I'd share the crafty links I visited last night on my quest for non-machine washable yarns. You would think trying to find such yarn would be easy. However, what I discovered at 12a was that I was looking for the wrong thing. I found out that what I needed for my felted crochet project was not "non-washable," but "non-machine washable" yarns. Big difference. I needed to purchase "hand washable" yarn for my project. Hand washable yarn will respond to hot water and machine washing like delicate hand washable clothing. Bingo! Just what I needed. This search lead me to look at several websites last night and several have great deals and links. Enjoy!
Lion Brand ~ Here you will find tons of helps, tips, new stuff - like the "Speed Stix" (I hope to get a pair soon) and patterns for knitting and crocheting. This is where I learned about what type of washable yarn was needed for felting and found some felted knitting projects too.
Jo-Ann Fabrics ~ A co-worker told me about Jo-Ann's email newsletters and coupons. I found great clearance items and received a code for free shipping last night. If you are interested in signing up for their email list, I can refer your email address and you will receive a bonus 40% off a regular price item coupon sent via email. I got mine today and I am going over to Jo-Ann's tomorrow and look for the "Speed Stix", they are currently about $11.99 and will be apprx. $7.20 plus tax w/coupon. I like saving $$.
Free Patterns ~ This one was also mentioned on My Smoky Mountain as well as on one of my yahoo groups. I found a number of really great patterns.
DMC ~ I have found some great crochet patterns and of course, cross-stitch patterns.
Coats & Clark ~ You will find loads of stuff to see and do from How to's to Free Patterns. There is a large variety, especially since they are makers of lots of wonderful products we use. (i.e. Red Heart yarn, thread, floss, etc.) |
