Smiles and cheery dispositions, laughter and gentle chuckles. Don't you just love to share them? I know I do! I have a dear friend who practices the art of making all who know her feel as if they were the most treasured of gifts. She always has a welcome, and a wonderful bit of caring advice.
I so enjoy the time Darlene and I spend together. She is such a wonderful friend, and when I am in her presense, I feel the sense of peace that fills her heart. Though I know she grows weary, she is never too tired for her friends and the most gracious of companions. What makes this so remarkable is that she has been sick for several years with a disease that makes it very difficult for her to eat, and maintain her health.
We have spent many hours together, and I have never seen her flustered or angry. I have seen her handle some pretty tough situations too, but she does it with aplomb, and grace. I am learning that I need to be more like her. Because she practices what she preaches.
When she was first stricken ill, I was devestated. I was so hurt for her, but, just as usual, she comforted me. "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine," is one of her favorite verses. She lives it. She rises above her situation by putting into play what she believes. She is a gift.
So today, I am e-mailing her this little blog post, to let ther know that her merry heart blesses me. I hope you will all take a moment and say a prayer for her. She is a special person, and I love her.
Darlene, thank you for being my friend. Thank you for loving me, for encouraging me, and even nagging me, when I needed it. But most of all, thank you for being my sister, by your choice. God bless and keep you, dear friend.
Love, Mistypearl
