Real or Fake--undecided
We have put up an artificial tree for years, but am thinking this year we might do a real one with homemade ornaments--I think it would just be something different and fun--I have not even begun to decorate for Christmas this year--I am going to keep it very simple--simplicity seems to be in the air at our home and in our life this season--so as with the rest of life our Christmas will also be a no fuss, focus on Christ, keep it simple kinda holiday--I am actually enjoying this season much more this year than in previous years and I liken that to the fact we are not getting all caught up in the 'commercialism' of it all--we are just enjoying the season for what it means--such blessing in that!

We have had a artificial tree for years as well. I had the idea of a real tree this year as well, but hubby says no needles in the carpet! oh well, perhaps next year.
I love the homemade ornament idea. I have mine already decorated, but as in years past, it is never done. LOL We buy a new dated ornament each year that symbolizes what we have done that year, and sometimes I get ornaments for presents, or I find a craft or ornament I want to make for the tree. LOL I used to stress over everything matching perfectly, but thankfully i am over that. LMSO
I agree with you on the commercialism as well. We are not getting caught up in the price or what store, etc. We are however making alot of homemade presents and supplimenting them if needed with small boughten items.
Thanks for sharing!
God's Blessings,

Tuesday, December 2, 2008 - Christmas tree

Hi,
I love real trees. They smell so good. My husband will not allow a real tree in our home after he burned the last one we had in the back yard and it went up in flames like a big torch. He said it burned hot, and it burned fast. He figured best for our family to keep a fake tree instead for safety sake. Though I miss the real trees, I'm thinking my husband is probably right. When we went in search for a fake tree I wanted to make sure it looked like a real one. So, we have one that is fake and it has pinecones on it, and it looks pretty close to a real tree, so I'm satisfied.
Blessings to you whatever you decide.

We have both. My artificial tree is older, but I have never seen one that I like better, so I just keep dragging the poor thing out year after year. :-)
Someone even came up to it once and said it smelled so good. (It looks that real, lol.) Anyway, the real one will actually be planted after Christmas ends, which will be a nice memory for the boys. I don't buy any decorations, but I love to decorate, so I use whatever I can make or gather from our farm. It has a very "homespun" feel to it, but that's what I like anyway.

I live in the high country of NC where alot of christmas trees are grown. Even the white house tree! Anyway, they are sprayed with alot of chemicals and you may consider that as you decide. I never knew that until I moved here. We have a high cancer rate in children and they believe that may be the cause.
