Why is it wrong?
I have found a few people that feel its wrong to stock up on things like food, medication, water etc...in the event of a total economic collapse..Not sure I understand why it would be wrong? The bible says to not store up our treaures in heaven, I think this means material posessions. We are not to worry about what we will eat and drink. This does not say not to be smart and stock things you and your family may need. There was a little joke going around at one time about a man who was in a flood and he was on the roof of his house and man in a life boat came by and tried to help him and them a helicopter tried .....both times the man said he was waiting on the Lord.....the man dies and goes to heaven and then ask God, 'why didn't you help me'? God reponds by saying, I sent you a boat and helicopter...this is not exact but you get the point...God will help those who help themselves...We are not stocking up because we do not trust God, we doing this because God says to trust him and he told me years ago to be prepared, took me a while to figure out what He meant but He clearly showed me to take care of my family and others if need be...He has continued to provide land and other things we need ion ways I would have never imagined.....Are those out there like me untrusting? Nope, we are wise and making sure our families are ok and many of us are thinking of others...I have made it clear to people in my life that if a the time comes they need help, I am here, I have land to give them a place to go and I will have food for them...this is not selfish...and we are not scared, just following the Lord...I am one that thinks ahead...if I do all of these things and nothing happens...so be it....but if it does...I am prepared...Now is the time.

I don't think there's anything wrong with stocking up, but my husband has the same philosophy as the "His saints shall not beg for bread..."
Maybe it's all just a difference of opinion, cause it surely isn't minded WHEN I stock up! LOL!
(But I do see his point too.)

I agree 100% with you. I like the saying "it wasn't raining when Noah started on the ark." Like you, he was told to prepare and others mocked him. Like you, I was told to prepare, and I have been.
The Lord told Joseph to prepare the land of Egypt. I do not know what, if anything, he told Jacob, but if he did tell Jacob to prepare and he didn't, isn't it fortunate for him that his son was listening to the Lord in Egypt? The Lord gave Egypt seven VERY plentiful years in preparation. I have had 8. I pray for just a few more to finish my preparations, but if I do not get them, I know the Lord knows I have tried.

I think people look at some of us that do stock up as people who panic and are not trusting in God. I listen and I definately trust my Heavenly Father, and I am not in a panic. But I believe our stocked freezers and pantry are just one way God is providing for our family. I wouldn't have stocked up if God hadn't urged myself and my husband ot do this.
Thanks for a wonderful post here.
God's Blessings,

The important key that you have stressed is obedience. Having a large family has helped me to be a "be prepared " person. When my husband died 20 years ago, I had no income or insurance and 9 of my 10 children still at home. But I did have a lot of home canned food, and wheat, and beans, etc. I had a month when I had no money to go to the store. But we ate well all month on what we had stored. We are now facing hard economic times, we need to lean on the Lord even more and we need to obey Him. He has given us, through the scriptures and prophets words to live by. We are stewards of what the Lord has given us.OOPS, I am running on. Thanks for your post.
