My day started like most do around our farm with Brewster, our rooster, peeking in the window and crowing! He usually walks around the house, to each bedroom and sounds his cheerful alarm. He has quite the personality, that one. His momma died while he was a little one, so he adopted ME as his new one. He thinks he's human. :-)
I went the barn and gathered the eggs. I was surprised to find several. It's been hit or miss lately. (Don't you just love that table cloth? It belonged to my great-grandmother.)

My husband had the morning off, so we decided to take a trip to town for some bulk shopping. While the boys did chores, I made breakfast. I enjoyed watching Brewster follow my son all through the barnyard. It was comical!
It had been a while since we had made the trip, so we were in need of a few things. I made lists of what I will need for the next several months, and I felt a bit like a pioneer buying flour and sugar 25 pounds at a time! We loaded down our "covered wagon" (sometimes it feels like one!). It's about a forty minute drive, so I wanted to make the most of it. The sugar will come in handy once canning season arrives.
After we came home and unloaded everything, the boys worked on their studies and then it was off to an appointment for me. I had an interesting treatment done called an "Ionic Foot Spa." It helps to release toxins through the feet. It was interesting to say the least, and a very relaxing experience. :-)
This evening, I told the boys that supper would be their choice, so they chose burgers on the grill with homemade sweet potato fries. We had a nice meal together and they all discussed plans to go fishing at our family pond as soon as the weather cooperates. I'm afraid that there are some nightcrawlers in a jar who aren't nearly as excited that it's fishing season once more!
I ended my day quietly with a cup of hot peach tea and some good reading. It's been a little on the chilly side, so I curled up with a blanket and some nice warm socks. I'm dreaming of going barefoot and the warm summer sun. I'm sure it will be here before I know it.
