We're Pioneers This Weekend...
Posted in Farm Happenings
Well, sort of. I hate to even insinuate that I have the same hardship that pioneer women had, because I certainly don't, but it will be "interesting" around here for a couple of days!

You see, we will be without heat, hot water, a clothes dryer and my cook top by this evening. We seem to have a teeny tiny leak in our propane line that nobody can locate! We think it came from the unprofessional job that the furnace installer did years ago, because he used some improper fittings. Anyway, the company can't leave our gas on over the weekend (it's a liability and we completely understand) but it will make things a bit more challenging around here.
Oh well, I always say that I should have been a pioneer woman. I suppose I'll get to test that theory somewhat. Our woodstove will be a blessing and will provide cozy heat and some hot water. I can even cook on it if need be, but I do have my electric oven. I can also hang the laundry around it and pray that the preacher doesn't choose this time to visit! :o) I suppose it could be worse--it could have happened on Thanksgiving!
Speaking of Thanksgiving, I'd like to share just a few things that I am truly thankful for today. These little pearls came from a sweet devotional that my mom just brought to encourage me. What a treasure it is to have a godly mother!
A MOTHER'S LOVE
For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. PROVERBS 4:3
THE WARMTH OF A FIRE IN WINTER
I will praise thee, O lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. PSALM 9:1
LAUGHTER TO EXPRESS OUR JOY
Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: and then said they among the heathen, The lord hath done great things for them. PSALM 126:2
KIND WORDS
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good it is! PROVERBS 15:23

Thank goodness you have a woodstove, at least for heat. And you're right, what better time to test out your theory that you would have made a good pioneer woman!

It's nice that you have a woodstove. They next few days may even be fun. I think of how creative pioneer ladies were and how different life is, for us, today.
Thank you for posting the devotionals. God's love is wonderful!

Oh, I am praying for you (are you sick again?!!) and your friend's children. It's unreal how life changes in a moment like that. I am currently riding the "boat" off and on with nausea (so much fun!), and I will join you in pioneering, somewhat....I have 8 extra people coming to my home for the entire week......and my dishwasher is busted.... :O
Love n Hugs
